  1. I had one this week. Told him I was recording the call for training purposes and assumed he was doing the same. He put the phone down.
  2. Hi - have you revisited all the neighbours? Ours went missing for 9 days and we found him trapped in a cellar along the road.
  3. think it's the former Imperial Gardens club
  4. tweeting @BTcare helps to cut through the company bureaucracy - I just used them to help escalate a complaint and they were pretty good. They can put you in touch with the right team and get prompt responses

Thanks Yes I just had a kingsize bed and mattress collected by Southwark - took the frame apart and there was no problem
  6. long time since I've been but this place was good http://www.discover.org.uk/ Appearing roomss at South Bank Centre are always great and then there's the big space inside to run around in http://www.southbankcentre.co.uk/whatson/festivals-series/festival-of-love/installations/jeppe-hein%E2%80%99s-appearing-rooms-fountain
  7. https://www.headspace.com Is good if you want to try online
  8. we were looking at old photos yesterday and found a pic of DD1 in her Beano Club T shirt at that age. She LOVED it
  9. I was in Orkney last summer with my teens - idyllic place - we all loved it and. as good holidays do, it got me wondering what we're doing in London. And then the schools went back while we were there and we ended up a few times on the local bus with all the teenagers going home from 2 different schools. My two are 15 and 17 so a long way through the good, bad and ugly of the SE London school system. The Orkney bus chat was like nothing I've ever heard - bored, fed up, drugs, alcohol, fights in school. Someone had OD'd after being accused of graffiti at the local youth club. Maybe less preoccupation with social media but it generally sounded a lot more stressful than anything I've come across. It was quite an eye opener and VERY useful perspective Only metal detectors my 2 have ever reported are occasionally at Peckham Rye station and not for a while, I think
  10. Just a point to consider is that you can use Wii U to stream to your TV - useful for Netflix etc. we had the original wii before and I can't remember if it had this capability. I have teen girls who love wii u - can play together or one can play on the console while someone else is watching TV - you might not need this much choice with young children.
  11. Church St hotel in Camberwell gets good reviews - never been myself but might be worth a look http://churchstreethotel.com

  13. Junie B Jones books are great for 4-6ish
  14. http://www.southwark.gov.uk/info/449/childrens_library_service/2098/libraries_and_young_volunteers My DCs have done this the last few summers
  15. Did you have a dig around on the school website? They used to publish an info sheet with the detailed routes.
  16. I have teens who have been through various hassles, seen it go on in school etc. Based on that, my instinct would be to overrule him and talk to the school about the issue in his cohort and ask them to get onto it with protection of your boy at the heart of the approach. I've had a number of issues where I've asked for my own DDs to be protected in this way and head of year/tutor have been very good at it. In our case, I always go directly to head of year as they typically have a very good understanding of the characters and dynamics FWIW my year 9 was just telling me yesterday how in her year group, the merest hint of homophopbia is entirely unacceptable and the kids all jump on it immediately whereas they were using gay as an insult not too long ago.
  17. What about an email addressed to head of MFL dept, cc'd to head teacher and head of year asking a series of questions about the curriculum, exam board, date of mocks, expectations of revision planning etc etc
  18. Anyone follow the local food blogger, Helen Graves? http://helengraves.co.uk/2013/10/peckham-camberwell-food-drink-guide/ We have been 11 years in the area and love it. Kids went to Lyndhurst Primary alongside loads of Lettsom Estate kids and never had hassle of any kind. Eldest is now at college in Waterloo and does it in 30 mins max - great transport links
  19. Yep - another fan here. We've been going regularly for about 15 years and only had a problem once a few months back when their website was down. Very happy with Peckham Plex
  20. We have a v funny story DD1 wrote when she was about 5 and learning to ride her bike. She was crashing into a lamp post snd I was sitting on the garden wall with ill DD2 leaning on me. It goes without saying I saved them both!

Cinnamon Tree Bakery newly opened at 14 Peckham High St - sweet baked goods rather than sandwiches from what I saw yesterday - delicious
  22. They do go through all kinds of phases. Can you recognise any trigger for this behaviour?
  23. Worth checking what's on at the IMAX if they haven't been to one before - my kids found full length films at the imax overwhelming at that age but some of the nature/space type specialist films are only about 30 mins and are fantastic - haven't been to science museum for ages but assume there's still an IMAX there too.
  24. I wonder if there's an angle around his hunger as well as cooling down from the day of being good at school? My DD1 at that age used to be horrifically bad tempered after school and we had a stage where I packed her off to bedroom with a snack the minute we got in and encouraged her to just relax for half hour in peace. Might also help if he can have a little 1:1 time later on which gives a window if he wants to talk about the day.
