I saw this posted elsewhere and though people might be interested:

The TLC team from King?s College London are conducting a programme aimed at helping parents manage children?s challenging behaviours, including aggression, disobedience and tantrums. We are looking for families with children aged 3 ? 8 who experience these difficulties. Eligible families who wish to participate will receive free, non-medication-based treatment by working one-on-one with a therapist in 6 weekly 1-2 hour sessions at the Denmark Hill campus of King's College London. Families are also asked to participate in an assessment before and after treatment to help us evaluate the effectiveness of this programme, and will be reimbursed for their time. We will be offering this programme to families from October 2011 until January 2013; places are limited and conditions apply. If you have any questions, please contact Jenny Allen (0207 848 0756) or Kim McGregor (0207 848 5836); email [email protected].

This thread has really helped me; at least I'm not alone!

S is two next month and has some absolutely appalling tantrums. Today he screamed, kicked and demanded a toy train that was in a box atBookstart. We were able to divert his attention eventually...

However, on the bus home he decided je wanted me to carry him. He refuses to sit in his buggy now so we got a buggy board which worked well for the week we were away. Now? Not so much. Anyway he screamed for 45 minutes straight. I was absolutely mortified. This continued when we got home too. He finally stopped when I was feeding his sister- he'd fallen asleep behind the potted plant in the living room. Night is awful now too- he will NOT settle in his cot, demandig to be in my bed or downstairs. My nerves are shattere. Sounds perfectly normal and v common though.

Oh good...another tantrum. Sigh....

We're back.g fun too. Not so much with tantrums (although she can mix it with the best of then when she wants to), but more the fact she won't do ANYTHING she's asked.

I thought it was all quite normal, but looking at her next to other kids, they all seek so quiet and well behaved.

I used to look after my two nieces whilst my sister worked and thez were a NIGHTMARE!

My sister was never very strict with them at all. It even got to the stage were they would start being destructive, the 3 year old even drew on my white sofa with red pen!!!

I found the best way to deal with this was to get the both of them into a strict routine and show the boundries. With the help of my sister we set out a few rules. We found that cutting out sugar really helped. We also got him involved in helping out around the house and teaching him how to do things himself. Just small things like picking up his toys and so on. I'm not sure if you already have a strict routine set out for him but if not I would advice you to get on into action asap. It's a tough battle but is worth it in the end. Just think in there. I hope this helps and wish you the best of luck.

Kellie :)

    • what sort of bike are you looking for - men's , ladies, size. commuter, mountain or racer etc etc. And what is your budget?
    • Is  the  decision by the High Court not to  deport an Eritrean man  to France on Wednesday anything other than a massive boost for Farage and reform. Farage has made a commitment for the UK to exit the ECHR which limits the independence of our justice system The UK Government’s “one in, one out” has failed at the first hurdle - just as the Rwanda scheme did under the Tories. To make it even more embarrassing is that the accommodation for deportees   in Rwanda paid for by the UK is now being used by the USA for its deportees. If we are to have Farage thrust upon us as a result of such judicial decisions, then God help us.
    • I recently hired Andy to paint the newly plastered walls in my front room, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. From the start, he offered a fair and reasonable price for the work, and his professionalism really stood out. Andy has a wealth of experience and was happy to share suggestions about colour choices and paint types, which made the decision-making process much easier. He completed the work within the agreed timescale, and I am very happy with the finish.  What impressed me most is that Andy went above and beyond what I initially asked. He not only painted the room beautifully but also helped with extra tasks such as putting up the wall bracket, curtain poles, and curtains, and even gave me a hand moving furniture between rooms. That level of support is rare and very much appreciated. If you’re looking for a painter and decorator who is reliable, trustworthy, reasonably priced, experienced, and willing to go the extra mile to help, I would highly recommend Andy.
    • John recently skimmed the walls in our front room lounge, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the result. From start to finish, he was professional, punctual, and easy to work with.   He arrived on time each day and kept me updated on progress, which made the whole process smooth and stress-free. The quality of his plastering is smooth, even, and ready to paint with minimal prep. He takes real pride in his work.   John was also very tidy, laying down protective sheets and cleaning up thoroughly after the job was done. It’s clear he respects his clients’ homes, which I really appreciated.   On top of that, he’s friendly, approachable, and trustworthy someone you feel comfortable having in your home. His pricing was fair and transparent, with no unexpected costs.   Highly recommended if you're looking for a skilled and reliable plasterer. I’ll definitely be using him again for any future work.
