Wanted - recommendation for a really lovely hotel in Brighton

Taking Mr PR there for his birthday treat early December. Anyone got a favourite? I've checked several on the web and trip advisors and can't make up my mind.

Stayed here a few years ago http://www.hotelnineteen.co.uk/index.htm - it's on the kemp town side of Brighton but walking distance to the laines. There is a hotel du vin in Brighton, but if you are looking for small, boutique, I'd recommend hotel 19.

Having just read some reviews on trip advisor, can I UN -recommend hotel 19! I stayed there when it had just opened, but reading the reviews it looks like it has gone downhill.

Jonny thanks so much. I looked on TAdviser and indeed that 19 one and Madeira were completely trashed by people. That many reviewers can't be wrong! BlanchHouse looks fab. Thanks!

Anyone else welcome to contribute ideas though, I will book it next week.

We stayed at Sea Spray a few years ago - looks like it is still great! #1 of 17 "specialty lodging" on TA :))

We stayed at Drakes on the sea front, the sea facing rooms are especially nice, and they have parking out the front & excellent cocktails

The White House was pretty special in Kemptown, even a view of the sea, from top rooms, nice breakfast, champagne in rooms etc

We stayed at an organic B & B a few years back - all done out in art deco style - it was the marina end of Brighton. Cannot remember the name. Very nice - best breakfasts I have ever had

Hi there - I'll second Blanch House, although it's been a few years since we stayed. Lovely people, quirky rooms, nice food and good cocktails!
