Baby Observation

Would you be willing to participate in a baby study?

I am studying at the Tavistock Clinic and need to work closely with a family once a week for two years.

The purpose of the study is for me to develop skills as an observer and gain a deeper understanding of how humans develop.

I would visit you at home for an hour each week.

I did this with my first child, for the Tavistock. The lady who did the observation was lovely and we have remained in contact. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it!

My son was observed for two years, and I agree with melbourne groover, it was a really enjoyable process.

I've also been an observer as part of my psychotherapy training, and it was by far the most satisfying part

of my studies!

Baby or child observation over a period of weeks is also a requirement on Social Work Degree Courses. I did mine at a Camberwell Nursery - the only written project I got an A mark in. You do not realise until you do it, the changes occuring in the child over a very short period. It gave me a very good grounding when I had to undertake supervised parental visits for a case which went to court, having to memorise and record 6 hours a week how a toddler interacted with her parents.
