Once whilst in Dulwich Village I saw a wallet with cash notes of tens and twenties spilling out of it on the pavement. I walked over to pick it up but not before an eldery lady came out of the post office, looked around to make sure nooone was looking and swiped the money!! I picked up the wallet and took it to Lordship Lane police staion where they managed to track down the owner who was thankful someone had found his wallet and handed it in as it still contained bank cards etc... I didn't expect anything from him for handing it in as it's what any decent person should do not nick the money like the old lady tut tut!

Did you not feel moved to intervene with the old lady in question? Or might she have been carrying a knife? :-)

I was on across the road from her so by the time I walked over to pick up the wallet she had legged it...well walked off as she was probably in her early seventies! I was in shock aswell at her nerve, going back now I should have probably shouted after her!

Blimey! You must have good eyesight if you could distinguish the notes from the other side of the road! I would have been lucky to have seen the wallet from that distance! Are you sure the old lady didn't make off with a few fifties as well?

I was sitting outside the old restaurant that is now called Rocca with a friend having a coffee and saw a couple of the notes blowing in the wind and then noticed the wallet. I saw the old lady and thought maybe it was hers but no she was only interested in money!

    • Is Dell Autos closing down completely or just moving? For whatever it's worth, for MOTs I've had good recent experience with The Test Centre in Deptford. They only do MOTs so they don't have any particular incentive to fail you and they usually have same day appointments. Open 7 days a week and late. https://www.thetestcentre.co.uk/our-test-centres/deptford-branch/ Obviously you would still need a "normal" garage to do servicing and repairs etc.
    • So what is the issue? You want compensation for the loss of value, or you want to expedite the matter?
    • No. What happened? I actually thought, considering it was what we used to call Guy Fawkes Day last night, the loud noises from  fireworks ended remarkably early. About 9pm? Maybe I just fell asleep and didn't hear any later ones. Do people actually burn Guys any more? Apart from at places like Lewes, where I believe they still have Bonfire Societies and burn effigies of various political figures etc.
    • The accompaniment to our "Christmas Pudding" aka Nothing-Whatever-Like-A- Christmas-Pudding last year  at The Cherry Tree was "brandy butter ice-cream." If it had ever been near any brandy, the brandy must have been waved in its direction from a very great distance. Same with butter. The ice cream tasted like bog standard "vanilla" from a catering tub. At least it did bear some resemblance to ice cream. Whereas the "Christmas Pudding" bore no resemblance whatever to any Christmas Pudding I have ever seen or tasted in my many  decades of seeing and tasting Christmas Puddings. Oh, and Cinzano Bianco. Bleurgh. My sister used to drink that. 🤢
