Grotty
Hey, i'm 39 weeks today (although by dates 39 + 5) with no.2 - woke up feeling nauseous and have vomited since, also had diarrhoea (sorry for that). Braxton Hicks have become slightly stronger and more frequent over last 2 days. Have rung Kings and they say i just have to wait it out - could be tummy bug, could be that labour will soon start. Just sitting here waiting now, so thought i'd see if anyone had any personal experiences to share to keep me distracted/entertained.... duchessofdulwich
I had really bad vomitting/ nausea in the first trimester and I was being sick during the pushing stage of labour sorry for the detail! Hormones are funny old things, id say if things get bad keep in touch with the midwives or a doctor. Try and drink lots of water if you can especially if you have diarrhoea Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/20507-anyone-experience-vomiting-pre-labour/#findComment-499475 Share on other sites
Lochie
As above was very sick in pushing stage and also just after delivery. Prob due to all the drugs though. No significant vomming in pre labour. I am 24 weeks preg and was in kings 2 weeks ago with vomitting virus. 4 other women were admitted same day with vomitting so theory was there is a bit of a bug going around at mo that prego women are susceptable to. It passed in 24 hours but defo see gp if gets severe..... srisky
Diarrhoea can be a delightful prelude to labour... Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/20507-anyone-experience-vomiting-pre-labour/#findComment-499483 Share on other sites
Fidgetsmum
Back end issues can certainly kick off labour (hence the use of caster oil etc for some). Just make sure you're not getting dehydrated. And there is certainly a bug going around - my daughter got it 3am this morning, and I'm starting to feel a little peeky. It's that time of year sadly. Good luck with the birth, whenever it happens! mrs f
Hi I was sick all through my labour, ended up on anti nausia drugs & a drip (hooked upto my radiator as home birth!) ClareC
I was sick pretty much immediately labour started, unfortunately it continued during labour right up until i had an epidural. I was then sick afterwards (c section).. But that was a reaction to the drugs. I second the anti sickness drug, although second time round (elective c section) I needed a huge dose :( was sick every half hour for about 6 hours. It's a common reaction to anaesthetic apparently. Ruth_Baldock
I had pretty awful D+V whilst in the early stages of labour and then all throughout my induction. FUN. Echoing everyone else; keep yourself hydrated! Grotty
Thank you for all your comments/tips. Just thought i'd update you - the "braxton hicks" got to every 5 mins - i went into kings and they confirmed i had a bug and it was irritating the uterus, so after a couple of hours of thinking this was it we felt a little frustrated. IV drip overnight stopped everything in its track. However, here we are on Thursday, back at home with a lovely little girl, so regardless of the bug it was time.
