sunbob
Today I noticed a bubble like blister on my 1 month old's lower left gum. I had been worrying that when he is a bit tired and has been feeding a lot he seems to have difficulty opening wide to latch on the right breast and doesn't suck so hard. Maybe this explains that.I wonder if anyone has any tips for soothing his gum please, or any other ideas.Thank you. Fuschia
Is it whiteish or like a bruise? Is it on the hard bit if the gum, or more inside the lip? Fuschia
Show it to the hv or if it's worrying you, see the gp?Lots of bsbies prefer feeding onOne side only though Might be worth trying the 'rugby ball' hold or feeding lying down (with a flat pillow it's often possible to feed fromBoth breasts while lying on the same side!) candj
I agree with Fuschia, if the baby has a weird or odd latch on the breast it could cause a blister from rubbing too much. You could try to encourage them to feed from the other side or in different positions. Would show your GP and perhaps ask if you could use something topical (like Bonjela) to sooth it so they can feed without discomfort. One of mine had this when they were feeding from one side and it was in the middle of their top lip, but didn't last very long. nylonmeals
both of mine had the same bubble-like blisters on their lips. HV said that it was very common for BF babies to have these and totally nothing to worry about.
