We live on Borland Road, in flats that overlook the allotments, and my wife woke up this morning at 4am to see that there was a bloke in a hoodie in the allotment standing over a bonfire he'd made. He was alone, pitch black, just sort of staring at the bonfire. Which obviously struck us as a bit weird. Did anyone else see this? And for what reason would a bloke make a bonfire on his own at 4am? Weird.

Tell someone from the allotment's committee and describe roughly where among the plots the bonfire was. They will be able to find out if it was a plotholder or someone coming into the allotments. It worth letting them know because the problem of thefts and damage. it might just be a non sleeping allotment person as November is when you can start having bonfires again and you can't leave a fire that is still alight.

someone having a bonfire on an allotment = criminal destroying evidence?

really? Someone being overly paranoid is more likely. You can't burn knives anyway.

I would have thought, close to bonfire night, someone was having a bonfire and stayed to watch it die down. The allotments have bonfires for Guy Fawkes night and we are talking Saturday night to Sunday morning.

My other half lights our bonfires at night and usually stays up until 4/5am and then has a bbq for breakfast.

I?m a plot holder/committee member on the allotments. As Jimmah says, we only allow bonfires on the site on 5th November, and all plot holders know this. We have had some issues this weekend with bonfires being lit before the 5th, and I?m sure this is simply another example. Our apologies to the residents in the Borland Road flats for this. If anyone would like to discuss further, please do feel free to contact us on our email address: [email protected]. Thanks all.

This morning, about 5am, I witnessed a man in a hoodie exit a door on a dark street near lordship lane, and he began just RUNNING! I followed him around east dulwich, and he just ran in a big loop for about 5 miles back to the door he had originally emerged from. At one point he ran across a road without even using the nearby zebra crossing, I noticed quite a sinister look in his eye as he did this. He seemed very exhausted and sweaty at the end of it all. Why would anyone do this?

Who should I report this unusual and potentially antisocial behavior to? MI5 perhaps?

Well. If it's not something you would do yourself and you cannot discern WHY anyone would do this, it's clearly illegal and should be reported to the authorities (possibly all of them).

If the culprit was wearing shorts and a singlet, consider this may just be cover for something more 'sinister'.

    • Hi fellow forum-ers,  I am in need of getting out of a (mutually) toxic relationship with my husband, but cannot afford to buy or rent anything half decent in the area. I would like for the children not having to change schools and friendship group, their training club etc to maintain some level of stability through the storm. I am looking for a house share with someone in the same position as me who is willing to share rent/bills/chores and... life! Or, maybe, a not so young person who needs help with cleaning, washing, shopping and cooking and has a couple of bedrooms to spare and can do with some extra cash. My children are 17, 14 and 10 well behaved and used to be respectful around people's houses (we're seasoned home exchangers). The eldest is in a fishing school (don't ask) outside London and only comes home for the weekend. The other 2 are into sports, so often training or in competitions during the week/weekend.  If you are interested or know someone who is, please DM me. I know it's a long shot, but I hope somewhere out there someone is able to help us. Also, if you're being through this and can offer advice, that is also welcomed. In case you're wondering, my husband is disabled and won't leave the house (and it seems unfair that we ask him to).
    • Hi, My automatic nissan juke, much to my shock, having only done 50,000 miles needs a new gear box. Trying to decide to replace gear box or buy a second hand car - always thought Japanese cars were reliable and guess I have just been unlucky. Any advice greatly received - to buy a second hand car or replace gear box. If buying second hand would one suggest dealership or private garage ?? Thank you.
