I'm concerned about the lack of street lighting in Peckham Rye park. Many of the lamps seem to be out of order and there is a stretch along the main path (from the cafe to the Peckham Rye / Nunhead side of the park) that is completely dark. This feels unsafe and dangerous to walk through with small children even at 5/6pm.

I have reported this to Southwark Council and to the Parks department.

Does anyone know if anything is being done about this?

Thank you!

Thanks for reminding me: I've also just reported it on FixMyStreet, so lets see what happens. it's actually only 3 lights - number 17, 19 and 20 that are out, but it certainly is rather dark. Usually still enough people about between 6pm and 7pm to feel ok though.
Thanks everyone. Southwark Council got back to me to say that someone would investigate within five working days. Actually I noticed that some of the lamps were back on last night... so not as dark as it was a week or so ago. So, yes - maybe only three lights that are out.

Thank you for reporting this, Isolde2018.

I meant to report it a few weeks back, and forgot all about it.

It is a very scary stretch to walk down in the dark, particularly alone, but a very long way round if you avoid that path altogether because of the dark section.

There didn't seem to be any lighting in the car park either (which can be a short cut depending on where you are going) - is there supposed to be? I didn't want to stop and investigate at the time.

    • What is it that makes Waitrose so special! Admittedly I have shopped a couple of times in the Orpington and Beckenham one - sometimes buying food which I cannot get else where. Their 'basic range' is not bad. Price for price and quality - M & S.
    • Sometimes a shed or other installation has to have written approval from the freeholder i.e. Southwark, Southwark has (or did have) a Leaseholder Association.   Could also come under Anti Social Behaviour Unit.
    • Love Dulwich is great but has a large step in front. We have only been weekdays at Lunch time. Maria's next to Picture House is disabled friendly. Also can reserve table in advance. We did a Sunday lunch catch up with family - there were 8 of us.
    • Hi, Thinking about  going with some friends and was just wondering if folk might like to report back please. Most importantly sound level when busy & is it disabled friendly.  Thinking on a Sunday lunchtime but don’t want a busy busy environment or loud chatter - a couple of friends could not cope. Time can be flexible, if that helps - say 2 ish to avoid above.. Thanks…
