The DLR is open on Boxing Day, however no service between Bank/Tower Gateway and Poplar/West India Quay due to planned engineering works.

For the rest of us, the buses are running a Sunday service from 0830, Southern, Southeastern and London Overground are shut.

ASLEF are the only union on strike, so there will be some form of a tube service too, but don't expect the full network to be open.

Received this email from London Transport yesterday evening, if it helps anyone:

TRANSPORT FOR LONDON

Dear ,

I am writing to let you know that the ASLEF union have called a Tube strike. There is likely to be significant disruption to Tube services throughout Boxing Day, Monday 26 December.

Bus, DLR and Tramlink services will operate, although some of these will have a reduced service. Cycling or walking may be practical options for many.

Please check local news and travel reports before you travel. To plan your journey in advance, or for live travel news on the day, please visit tfl.gov.uk

Please also note that on Christmas Day, Sunday 25 December, there is no service on the entire network. On Boxing Day, Monday 26 December there will be no London Overground service. For a comprehensive guide to services during the festive period please visit tfl.gov.uk/festivetravel

Yours sincerely,

From what's being reported in transport circles, only the Victoria, Central and Hammersmith and City lines will operate within Zone 1.

Lines which are of most use to us in ED, such as the Northern, Bakerloo and Jubilee will be curtailed, the latter only open in NW London.

    • I am sure our lovely Evri delivery team, who do a firkin hard job, take the time between drops to read the East Dulwich Forum 🤫
    • For every person like OP that moans their doorbell was rung and there was a knock on the door, there's someone else moaning that they didn't hear the delivery drivers. If you've ever done delivery work you'll know that loads of people's bells don't work. The delivery drivers probably goes to a hundred doors a day: press bell, knock door, drop package, move on. If you don't like delivery drivers, insist on delivery by Royal Mail where the workers have wages and a union - or just stop ordering shit online that's artificially cheap. But most of us (me included) don't want that
    • If someone comes to my house and bangs my door and slams my gate, I'd speak to them about it nicely and ask if they would please not do that. And then subsequently less nicely if they keep doing it, ending in reporting them.  We don't slam doors at home and I don't put up with that either. I can see us moving to a culture where we bribe drivers to be nice by tipping them, but we shouldn't have to. It's not necessary - does not matter if they are on minimum wage or not, or if society means that delivery services are outsourced or whatever reason anyone would like to concoct.
