Hi

I saw this chap outside our house yesterday on Henslowe road and thought he looked a bit dodge. He drives a 3 wheeled makeshift motorised bike. My partner just saw him at the bottom of our street trailing our sons go cart behind him and assumed I'd given it away. I hadn't! He removed it without permission and when my son wakes up he'll be devastated. Anyone know this fella?

Hi

I saw the guy yesterday afternoon. He's white, medium build, late 50/60's and hairy with a beard. He was wearing a hi vis jacket and looked scruffy. He was loading bits of wood from a skip onto the back of his 3 wheeled bike thing which is kind of like a rickshaw without a roof yesterday afternoon outside a neighbours further down the road. He hung around a bit (I know this as a DHL van was taking forever to deliver yesterday so I was stuck further down the street).

I thought nothing else of it until my partner came home last night at about 9.45 saying that a man on a 3 wheeler was speeding down our road with our sons Kettler go kart attached. Not wanting to give chase in case he turned out to be dangerous and wondering whether I'd consented to this meant my partner didn't give chase.

It wasn't locked up (as it should have been) as my son had the day before used the lock for his bike but it was clearly not on display or in anyway advertised as a freebie, plus I was in last night and our front gate closed. This guy is a thief and I've reported the theft to the police. Please watch out for him and if he's in your area during the day it's likely he's scoping out stuff in your garden so I guess be aware and lock away kids bikes/scooter or anything else of value.

Hello Cazzyr ,

I am a local scrap man , I get around London quite a bit .

I see a LOT of dodgey ( non-licensed ) scrappys and waste collectors about - I have never seen one on a trike except a couple of local gypsies working nearby Surrey Canal Road ( Industrial Section ) , they also reside in the closely situated Camp Site by the train station .

If you can upload a photo/image of what this bike/trike looks like (closest as possible ) I will can help get the word out and hopefully may find out who this person is doing this and find a way to get in contact him .

Well , I go to go but I will come back here if I see what you described !

    • Yes they do, but that is not the core tenet of representative democracy. At that level, we are voting for a parliamentary representative, irregardless of whether parties exist or not. It's why candidates can stand as independents.
    • Sadly I think you will never convince people like this. They think gardens have to be kept chopped back and controlled. My theory is that this comes from being (or trying to be) controlling in every aspect of their lives, so I doubt if anything you could say or show them would have any effect. But are they actually coming into your garden or leaning over into it and pulling up/damaging things? If so, maybe one of our community police people could have a word with them?
    • Dear Nature lovers - advice please. I am being harassed by a neighbour who doesn't like my standard of gardening which she calls 'messy'. (I have rewilded my garden with advice from the London Wildlife Trust and a gardening expert from The Times.) I have twice caught this neighbour and her husband pulling up my plants and damaging my trees. Plus she has photographed my house, and sent a dozen complaints to the Dulwich Estate about my plan to rewild the verge outside my property - approved by the Estate some 4 years ago in line with their stated policy of supporting biodiversity in and around Dulwich. What can I do to introduce these neighbours  to the benefits to us all of returning a portion of our gardens to nature?
