Hello everybody,

Im a second student at The London College of Communication ( formally London College of Print )

I also live in East Dulwich, but only for about 6 months now.

Im currently working on a project in which i have to create a visual identity for an area, my chosen area being East Dulwich ( or Dulwich as a whole - undecided, your welcome to persuade me to do one or the other, given valid arguments! )

My questions to all of you are;

------

1, What is East Dulwich(/Dulwich) to you? ( the fondest thought? do you resent it? do you think of it like where you used to live in the countryside?

and it would help me if you could answer these too:

please give an example of each of the following that say to you - Dulwich, OR specifically East Dulwich.

2, Colour ( you can show me a picture if you want to be exact.. eg, this mug i got from habitat)

3, material ( concrete, oak, grass, clouds - anything )

4, shape ( circle, brick, arched window, windy road, dodecahedron - anything )

5, Person ( this may be irrelevant to many, personally no one 'says' it to me )

6, Time of day ( 2pm, elevenses, dusk, twilight, when-the-sky-is-a-vivid-blue )

7, Building ( concrete house, Dulwich library, that nice deli, any house made out of this (e.g.) brick )

8, food/drink/taste ( coffee, mums lamb stew, tangy, shortcake biscuits )

9, weather ( rain, warm rain, torrential rain, sat in the warmth watching the umbrellas outside )

------

Please anyones help is greatly appreciated!!!

(my answers are 1, Where i see all the foxes playing on the way home. 2, red bricks. 3, red bricks and wood, 4, windows 5, n/a. 6, when nothing is bright everything is warm coloured even if its freezing. 7, the house on the corner of my street by the laundrette. 8, the sausages i get from the butcher. 9, leafy everywhere. )

Thanks! Tom

Or that even though I've explained I live 8,500 miles away my disaffection for food Nazis is emblematic for the opressed citizens of East Dulwich ;-)

Or that my rage for a better society and fierce love for my neighbour has triumphed over all.

    • I’d also recommend Paul for electrical work. He came round the other week to help us out with a handful of jobs (installing an SPD, new light fittings, installing a dimmer switch, a bathroom fan). His quote was cheaper than what I got from others, he turned up on time and he got the job done quickly.
    • We’d like to add our recommendation for Lukasz and team at L&L Building & Maintenance.  Lukasz has recently installed a roof terrace for us, and we’ve found him a pleasure to work with from start to finish. We contacted about a dozen recommended builders and found his quote very competitive. During the build his team delivered quality work, they were no hassle in the house at all and they kept the place tidy every day. The terrace looks great, and we’re very happy customers. What stood out in particular was Lukasz’s responsiveness, right from discussing quotes to follow-up during the build. Lukasz often checked in and was always available when we needed him.  We’ll definitely contact Lukasz again for future building work and we’d happily recommend him to others looking for a reliable builder.   Lukasz Kugaczewski L&L Building & Maintenance 07926651960 [email protected] www.landl-build.com
    • Yes, I did mention the train, which I now get from East Dulwich to Guys instead of the 40. Depends where in East Dulwich you are starting from which route is easiest! I think it is probably lack of staff rather than lack of hospitals which is the problem?
    • What can be done? How about reporting it to the police?
