Has anyone any great ideas of holiday location with an 18 month old. We are seriously considering a mark Warner as it will give my husband and i a total break from cooking etc and the option of evening babysitting (I know day care is available but not sure we'll use it).

Ideally we are looking for a two bed apart or large room with an alcove/large bathroom to put sleeping baby in (best sleep for all that way!) and I know you can upgrade your room options accordingly (seemingly at great expense!) but are there any other holiday companies out there that offer good quality accommodation?? (not 5* just clean and comfortable) with an option of evening babysitting and no cooking/car hire involved.....or are we thinking of the impossible..?

Many thanks in advance.

Have a look at:

http://www.kinderhotels.com/uk-index.htm

but check the blurb for each hotel as some only offer childcare from 2 years. Rooms all have separate bedrooms for children so you dont' have to sit in the dark after the children are in bed!

But if you just want evening babysitting rather than daycare, you can probably get something cheaper. Try the baby friendly boltholes website or just do a google search on family friendly holidays - there are lots of family resorts where you can get babysitting and where food is included. (have not stayed in any myself so can't reccommend but have defintely seen lots when I've been researching holidays in the past)

We go to Mark Warner in Bodrum and that's fantastic. They have very good childcare facilities and everything is done to make your stay with kids easy (foog appropriate for kids for example - which can be a nightmare in a more traditional resort)They also have a doctor on site.

If you want to holiday in the UK, Center Parcs is fab. Make sure you get one of the new style lodges which have been all done up.

Just booked our holiday at Sani Resorts following recommendations on the forum and really looking forward to it! Some of the rooms are have a seperate bedroom and they have good deals on at the moment for certain periods, that include HB. Have very good reviews on Trip Advisor.

Creche takes babies from 4months - 4 yr olds and it's run by Worldwide Kids company at the hotel site. We had used them at another resort in Cyprus before and they were really good. The hotel also offers free transfer from/ to airport if you book online for more than 5 nights I think and they arrange car seats.

Good luck!

pefki islands resort in Rhodes, Greece is lovely. We have been a few times (although not with our daughter yet). It has two resorts where you can use all the facilities. It is about a 5 minute walk from restaurants but down a quiet road so you dont hear any noise from the restaurants/bars. It has 3 huge swimming pools and kids swimming pool, people are very friendly and place is clean!

    • Hello, Recently there have been various comments made on the forum which have resulted in heated discussions being had. I for one, hold up my hand and wanted to personally thank whoever is keeping the forum going.. remember when it was likely to close. We are all adults and should known when it is right to continue or just ignore or if really feel it necessary comment via pm. I have had a long relationship with the forum and have bought, sold, offered advice and in deed made friends on the forum over the years. It is a public forum after all and everyone is entitled to express their opinion and is also free. I am not as tech minded as most but with the season of good will approaching and-knowing in this economic climate how many people are  struggling, I  thought it would be a lovely idea, to perhaps set up a just giving page to raise funds for a local charity who might appreciate a contribution towards their Christmas festivities… On a practical side, might just be to complicated to administer as I am sure all have charities that we support so my other thought was not me, as I am useless but to set up a just giving page and whatever monies are raised, perhaps contribute to the festivities that use to be run by local shops or whatever.. Maybe even use a local church hall and just make it special for perhaps folk that find it difficult to access events or no access for say wheel chair users.. guess really, one is looking for guidance from the church and of course volunteers. Shoot me down if you must or feel the need but this is my view and no, sadly I won’t be around in the months before Christmas but can help remotely.
    • Hi all Does anyone know someone who can make a window seat cushion and cover? See image of window seat. Thank you.
    • Don't know why but it seems like there have been impromptu fireworks since early September. At one point I even wondered if there was a shooting range or something like that over Dulwich Hamlet way- the direction where the firework sounds seem to be coming from? Is there some kind of new, fireworks craze going on and where are people getting them, out of season?
