Just to say I was watching TV on the sofa with the lights out the other afternoon around 3pm ish and a man appeared at the window at the side of my house - no-one needs to be there as it's my side aspect and not my main front door. Not thinking I was there he ducked off and before I could get off the sofa to see what he wanted he was gone. Not sure if it was anything to be worried about - it freaked me out a bit. I'm probably quite complacent as I have 2 dogs, but clearly people are out 'scouting'.

Hi tallulah71,

Did you ring 999 or 101 to report this?

I had the same happen to me. I mentioned it in passing to local Police who were really miffed I hadn't dialled 999 (101 is the non emergecny version).

Even now, please do consider dialling 101 and get a CAD number. The more CAD numbers an area gets the more Police resources they get.

I used to live in Overhill Road, the same thing happened to me but he did not see me whilst looking in, i left it a couple of minutes then opened the front door and the cheeky git had his tools laid out on the doorstep getting ready to break in !!! Always call the police...crime statistics do help in getting more police in the area !

Hi Tallulah 71,

I think you need to be very observant they may return at another time. The dogs are a good deterrant but if they are desperate enough they will find a way. It is always best to report it at least it brings an awareness that they are lurking! Take care

Worried for you,

Marion

    • Please bring this to Dulwich Village - we only have cafés and chain stores and could really do with some retail dynamism ! There's so much disposable income in the area, but so few good options to spend it.

    • That's absolutely disgusting. If it's true they should have closed the shop until it was fixed.
    • I have read conflicting accounts, some say the Peckham Rye pond chelonians are fresh water turtles others that they are red-eared terrapins. As well as terrapins, there are reports of Musk Turtles, a non native, fresh water turtle species also being released into the wild. They are also better equipped to survive our winters and do not seem to need to bask as much as terrapins. Perhaps we have both. I have not been able to see them close enough to observe markings.
