We've been trying to introduce potty training to our daughter who turned two last month. When she is at home I take her pull up off and let her run around "bare bottomed" which is fine she will use the potty and toilet when she needs it with no accidents.

She recently started nursery two morning a week and i gave the staff pull ups as i knew she would be pretty shell shocked starting nursery and didn't want to go cold turkey on her and take her pull up away at this point.

I spoke to a member of staff at the nursery who asked me what I was doing with regards to potty training, and i explained we are slowly introducing the potty and she does fairly well. She explaned that with children there is a window when it comes to potty training and that it be an idea to get going with it as we didn't want to miss the opportunity?? Don't know if this is true??

I have put underwear on my daughter and tried to toilet her at regular intervals to which at times she point blank refuses and two seconds later she will walk off and do a poo or wee in her undies?? I don't know how we can transition from nappies to underwear???

I have heard about the window of opportunity... Too late though and missed it. Things are going very slowly with potty training but I figure he won't wee on the bed forever! While playing that is, wears a nappy at night.

The same lady told me that girls respond well to the offer of pretty new knickers as a reward, Don't know if you think that would work?

Never noticed a window of opportunity with either of my sons

They still potty trained!

I think there was one with daughter, but we put her in pull ups to go on holiday ... She still trined properly the second we got back

So that's not my experience! Talk about piling the pressure on!

Dont know about the "Window" but I would suggest that maybe its better to either be doing toilet training, or remain being a nappy wearer. I think it it is easier for kids (mind and body) to learn to be continent when they are clear that the aim is to always try to have dry underwear. When there are different rules for different types of underwear and different places or circumstances it can be hard for kids to fully get behind it. I would ditch nappys completely, but if you find after a week she really cant cope with the underwear and doesnt get the hang of it, dont worry, put her back in nappies and try again in a few months - she's only just 2. Just my opinion though - do bear in mind that whatever you choose to do she will be toilet trained in the end!

I agree with Fuschia - talk about pressure. :) My two sons (now aged 13 and 9) trained themselves. The older one announced he didn't want to wear nappies anymore at 2 years and 8 months and within three days had cracked it. The younger one waited until he was three and then although he managed wees he took another six months before he was happy doing a poo in the toilet.

With both of them I let them decide and went with their preferences. I see so many threads on here with people trying to get tiny toddlers continent and having difficulty. Relax - it will come in time.

    • Nadia did a great job tidying up my very very overgrown yard. (See the before and after photos). I live in New Zealand and my tenants said a neighbour has been complaining about the out of control ivy. Nadia was easy to contact so over WhatsApp, managed to liaise between me and my tenants. Her quote was reasonable for the amount of work that needed doing, and the end result is great! She sent photos throughout so I could track progress. Would highly recommend her to others.
    • My car was stolen a few months back from my driveway but I had a tracker and found it in a private car park in Lavender Hill close to the police station. I was lucky. The thieves hide it up against that eventuality. High spec cars are targeted I'm afraid. The way it was stolen required the thieves to wire in their own computer accessing a front light (which had had a metal sheet welded across which they prised off). They had searched for a tracker but not found it. They also had to cut away a steering wheel lock. They had to come well tooled up and briefed to do what they did. Beating them off is non trivial. As I said, them not finding my tracker was just lucky.
