Benefits of reciprocal backlinks with your web site

We are a local business with an ecommerce web site.

Like all web sites, a large part of success depends on the Google search rankings. Apart from key words, the main determinant in ranking is the number of backlinks a site has. Therefor the more backlinks a site has the better.

This is why I am looking to set up reciprocal backlinks with other small (or large) businesses. Reciprocity brings worthwhile benefits to both parties.

The backlink can be very discrete or even invisible but all are still picked up by Google Analytics. It just needs one and it can be located under a full stop or other punctuation mark anywhere on a page. It can also be placed as a dot obscurely down in the footer or in a minor page anywhere on the site.
