Hi there

i run a website called www.mothers-meeting.com, it is all about getting creatives mums together and visiting exhibitions and galleries. It was been running for nearly 1 year now and i am really happy to say that there has been sooo many friendships formed through our meetings.

If you are bored of aitting around coffee shops talking about nothing but sleep feeds, then i think you should check out Mothers-meeting. Lots of our mums are from the area.

Look forward to hearing from you

I've wondered about this before but never bothered posting it - why are only "creative" mums allowed? I'm a scientist, I don't want to spend all my time sitting around talking about sleep and feeds either but get the impression from this post that I wouldn't be welcome.

I've always thought life is more interesting if you can meet people with different backgrounds, opinions etc. It's one of the things I love about London. I certainly don't want to just spend my time visiting museums with other scientists!

Sorry, it's Friday and I've been in an overheated lab all day so I'm grumpy!

...I'll get my (lab) coat

oh sorry i never meant for it to come across like that, when i say 'creative' i mean it in a state of mind kind of way. Not necessarily artists.

We have mums from sooooooooooooooo many diff backgrounds, varying from bankers, teachers, actresses, lecturers, shop assistants, pianoe teachers, journalists etc a whole sprectrum and thats what makes it so great! Meeting mums from so many different walks of life.

At MM we consider 'creative' as someone who looks up at the sky and appreciates its colour, someone who enjoys choosing a nail varnich that compliments their shoes, who takes photographs of the weird n wonderful not someone that wears a apron covered in crusty acrylics.

Sorry if i came across wrongly.

Pls join us at our next MM!!! x x

I do see what you're trying to achieve here, and whilst it's great that you have put so mch effort into MM, and organising things, you do realise you are alienating a helluva lot of People?

It is okay to only want to talk about Baby Stuff, and its okay to only be able to think about that kind of stuff.

Harsh truth time: if you have a baby, your life will never go back to how it was. This is not necessarily a bad thing. You don't have to be creative and cool and trendy and pulled together, its fine to NOT knock yourself out trying to be exactly how you were pre baby.

Come over to the darkside, we have leggings and farley's rusks.

of course it is ok to talk about baby stuff, i am not alienating anyone. Everyone that comes along really enjoys themselves and like i said we have sooo many diff ages and types of people and if you look at the site in further detail it is very honest and we say how hard and exhausting motherhood is. And yes your life as it was no longer exists.

I did not come on here for confrontation, i am trying to do something positive and get mums together not alienate anyone. We have a fantastic event coming up on 15th Feb, there will be celebs telling stories and a champagne breakfast. Mothers Meeting have been asked to invite mums, so if ANYONE fancies coming along. Let me know and i will give you the details.

cool/creative whatever you want to call it, is a state of mind.
