It's one block from the Police Station on Lordship Lane, the food might be good but I never tried it because of the lighting system ( it seems like a Uni canteen in Dakota USA )and the they do not clean the front windows very often. If someone on this forum strongly reccomends it, I will make the effort and try it out. B)

It looks a bit tacky from outside but the food there is great! It's good when it's really busy too as it's a good atmosphere. You can pick from anything traditional mexican (tortillas, enchiladas, fajitas, nachos, chile con carne, etc) to your more simple (and HUGE) burgers with fries etc. To drink is good spanish/mexican beers, a great cocktail list and of course SANGRIA! This service is great and it's pretty well priced too. I highly recommend it.

I used to be a regular customer in "never on a sunday" steakhouse, and when it changed hands in the early 1990's I was very disappointed, especially when I saw tons of orange paint and a mexican chappie with a large hat being painted on the outside of the building. However, it isnt so bad, perhaps a million miles off of the standard of Mexican cuisine you would expect in the states, but not the worst place in the world if you like this sort of food...

Everyone time someone puts a negative comment on this forum about this place I feel forced to balance the views up a bit.

It's a top laugh - don't go as a "foodie" or you will be disappointed, but order a jug of Margherita, enjoy the good service and stuff your face (the servings are massive) on bog standard Mexican for decent prices.... I've always enjoyed it there and it's a cheap night out by ED standards.

    • I have never used AI in my life. It's just notes from my forthcoming monograph on light industry in Dulwich and Camberwell 1879-1946 (dates chosen for obvious reasons).
    • Thank you, this really made me chuckle. It's like you met my brother as he would be the one taking more than his share. Plus the 'pikey' chutney is a winner. Unusual as in can't be identified??? Sadly I'm not the host otherwise I would definitely do that I regularly shop in the Cheese Block and am a fan. But as people have pointed out, there is no cheese shop that charges less based on bulk, so Aldi unusual cheeses may be what the familam receive! Yay, so I can get discounted mouse nibbled cheese still! Oooo, now I do love a Stinking Bishop. It actually offends my stepmum by it's stinkiness but luckily she is not one of the attendees at this particular gathering.  This is blooming genius. It's actually my partner who has the biggest issue with buying in plastic so I will have to hide the wrappers from him!
