damzel
I recently saw an assistant in clothes shop whizzing thru the "ironing" at a rate of knots with a garment steamer. I'm very tempted to buy one but am wondering if the ones sold for domestic use are any good. Does anyone have one? I'm thinking of something like this http://www.scottsofstow.co.uk/Garment-Steamer/Product1_22051_-1_17958_10551 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21979-i-hate-ironing/ Share on other sites
melbourne groover
They are great for getting creases out of already pressed garments but not sure you could do a shirt from the washing machine. Think a combination steamer and iron would be better? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21979-i-hate-ironing/#findComment-523129 Share on other sites
duchessofdulwich
I think steamers will get the creases out of clothes but if you want the pressed look on formal shirts etc you wont get that Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21979-i-hate-ironing/#findComment-523134 Share on other sites
The Nappy Lady
I used to iron EVERYTHING - I mean even vests and pants etc - I blame my Mum who was the same! These days I have a new rule - as soon as it is dry I sort it into piles and put away as much as I can get away with not ironing, it has made such a difference and quite honestly for things like kids T shirts and leggings they look just fine without. Still iron my work stuff etc. of course, but it has revolutionised my life, if only I could wear my exercise gear 24/7 I'd never have to iron again LOL. Monkey
Tiny love mobiles and playmats are great. Also look at Lamaze toys at Soup Dragon on LL. And books, books, and more books!Enjoy these precious first few weeks with your little one! damzel
Hmmm well I really only need it for our work shirts so perhaps it's not the thing. Would still like an opinion of someone who has one though, as I don't think my OH is that bothered about his shirts having the perfect "pressed" look. JBoylen
Pricey but Brooks Brothers and others have non iron shirts and ever since the Mr got a few the iron has been in a closet, they are wonderful and on sale I think they are worth the expense. I just wash them with other clothes, shake them out once they are out of the wash and dry them on a hanger. Wa-la. sandy_rose
I used to have one of these - it's great for floaty dresses and blouses, but shirts were a pain and never came out quite right - quicker with a normal iron. Got rid if it and haven't missed it much tbh. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21979-i-hate-ironing/#findComment-523383 Share on other sites
