Jogging round Dulwich and most places is pretty safe I reckon. I've been running round Dulwich and further afield for years whether it is dark or light. Stick to main roads if you are worried but the side streets have always been fine too. I don't run through the park when it is dark as I would find that a bit scary.

I do take some precautions though, the main ones being that I do not run with headphones in and I do not have a mobile phone visible.

Another option would be to run with a club like Dulwich Park Runners who are very friendly and there are always loads of people running in a pack. www.dulwichparkrunners.com

There is also Runhead running club based in Nunhead

and I think there is now a group going from the EDT one night a week.

Here are some short routes.

Just over 2 miles - from corner of Lordship Lane/ Court Lane, down Court Lane, Left into Village, through Village, left onto South Circular, up South Circ, Left onto Lordship Lane back to where you started.

1.6 miles - Around the edge of Peckham Rye - you don't need to enter the park.

Hope this helps.

    • Well thanks for enriching the conversation.  Would you chuck Fah - rage in too for his tax avoidance on his property?   I expect it was lead story on Jeremy Vine too.  Doesn't make it a story, just a bit more of BBC tabloid style sensationalism.  There are numerous real news stories in the UK and across the world.  And now, apt for Halloween, you have summoned up the ghost of Louisa. So for the third time, will you now eat humble pie?
