Earl Aelfheah
I'm not a fan of petitions, but it's really satisfying to see people rushing to this one in the wake of May's awful speech last night. bsand
This is strange the Guardian article said it had 600,000 on Thursday morning it's just over that now.https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/mar/21/petitions-site-crashes-after-thousands-back-call-to-revoke-article-50 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/221213-petition-to-revoke-article-50/#findComment-1325065 Share on other sites
Jenny1
Yes. Do spread the word. But it's important not to keep the page open just to watch the numbers rise, satisfying though it is, as I believe this risks overloading the site. Jenny1
Yes. Which is why it's important not to overload the server by keeping the window open after having signed. Good thinking - but I suspect that using the tracking site might still cause problems. I'm no expert on this, but I read that it makes complex requests of the parliamentary servers, thus putting a load on the petition site that it can't handle. Alex Andreou has said he'll give hourly updates on twitter - so I'm using that as my source of info now. malumbu
A few poor showings though such as Lincolnshire and surprisingly Northern Ireland - many may be simply averse to doing online petitions, rather than supporters of a hard Brexit (although that will be the case for the former) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/221213-petition-to-revoke-article-50/#findComment-1325147 Share on other sites
malumbu
I can't remember when I have had more fun, probably watching the score on teletext of a relegation battle in the 00s. It's 0-0. It's still 0-0. Or that coverage of the blinking competition on that satirical cartoon series again in the 00s. Anyway to be serious this is exciting and some light relief, it was 500 under a million a minute ago and is taking yonks to reboot. Damn, missed it, now 1,000,250, BTW. DulwichFox
Evidently The #RevokeArticle50 petition can be signed as many times as you like with a different email address. The remaniner cry babies fail to point that out. The 2016 actual vote could only be voted on ONCE Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/221213-petition-to-revoke-article-50/#findComment-1325170 Share on other sites
nxjen
Currently Dulwich and West Norwood is the constituency with the eighth highest number of signaturesETA and Jeremy Corbyn, Diane Abbott and Keir Starmer are the MPs for the 6th, 7th and 9th constituencies in the list! Sephiroth
You feeling better now then Foxy?I'm glad - but probably best if you didn't jump straight back to infantile "remainer cry-baby" type insults. You never know when someone will take exception at an inconvenient time. For example, someone might start getting cross with you just as you are taken ill again. JohnL
The petition won't do anything on it's own, it has to be taken in conjunction with other things.I still have a suspicion we may have to go through a no deal for at least a while before we know the effects (starting next Friday). Ireland has had ships bringing supplies into Dublin for months I hear - we're going to wing it.
