I am glad people like the bench. I have had two others installed along Lordship Lane, One outside the Sogim Pharmacy replacing the bench that was damaged by a car and one outside the Sainsbury's Local. They were paid for from the Council's Cleaner, Greener,Safer fund. Research has shown older people are more likely to venture out of their homes if they know the are places to rest up along the way.

Exactly this. I know many people who are afraid to leave their home with long term health conditions because they fear feeling faint or worse on long walks, or even essential walks tot he shops and back. I can assure you I?ve used this bench, and this is the sort of thing councils should be spending money on. Thumbs up from me.

Funding crisis is getting worse and the VAT on Education pushed children out of independent schools, now their SEND needs are to be met by the state.
    • I completely agree with you - and last night was really terrible where I am. Between midnight and 1am was the worst, where it genuinely felt like a war zone. I had to run out of my house to try and stop a grown man setting them off in open space right by our front doors. In response he went to throw a half lit one at me and then seemed to think better of it. I am so sad at how bad the situation has got here and how selfish people are. Fireworks are bad for the environment and for pets and wildlife, as well as just being unnecessary noise for people too. I have sent an email today to Helen Hayes, which I have done previously on this issue. Would advise anyone to write to your MP to do the same, and to ask them to engage with the debates scheduled for 19 Jan.
