DJKillaQueen, couldn't sgree more with your post. It's simply unnaceptable that such a dangerous junction can be left in it's disfunctional state for so long without positive action. Especially considering the amount of near misses and the recent death.

So tired of hearing excuses from the council in the form of 'consultancy', 'pending approval', 'olympics' etc...

Maybe after the next inevitible accident the person or people responsible can be tried for corporate manslaughter for their lack of action?

May make them take their responsibilities little more seriously.

The people who could & maybe should care about this, the safety of the community & road users in general .... just don't.

They are not accountable, have nothing to fear if somebody else is hurt .... so it actually matters not to them that the situation is dangerous. There will be weasel words of sympathy, excellent explanations & hand wringing ..... all to no avail. As nothing is being done.

But what actually we have is power without accountability.

A very dangerous combination & one that often leads, as in this case, to inactivity, lethargy & inertia.

In a normal business, somebody who dilly'd & dallied & procrastinated like this would be sacked, in short order &

somebody with skill, ability & who had a sense of duty would be appointed.

Evening all,

I've followed this thread with interest and I'm now appealing for witnesses. At 9.05pm this evening I was hit from behind and the vehicle drove straight off. It's possible that the poor phasing of the lights was to blame as our lights had turned green but there were numerous vehicles still turning from the other direction. No major damage, though my passenger and I were a little shaken, but that's not the point. I can't believe someone can slam into the back of a car and not stop to check if the passengers are OK. Did anyone see anything?

I've had a response, Southwark are still waiting for the OK from TFL. The consultation has been done, so once this is received works can commence. The delay has been due to a backlog of items for TFL to deal with due to the Olympics.

I was told the works on this junction would be done within the next six months (ie within this financial year).

Once I have more specific information, I'll post again.

Renata

    • Hi, Looking for a bedframe with no head or footboard for a double mattress. Normal UK double. Ideally wood. If someone has one to sell or give away please get in touch, thank you!
    • Great answer, but how do you then square it up with pension pots investments without adversely impacting future growth.  Buit of a tricky one as on one hand it should be nationalised but on the other we don't want to see future pension poverty relying on government top ups.  Far too complicated for a simple answer
    • Driving down one of the side streets near the park last night we saw a group of kids in front holding a rope across the road. Did feel a little anxious and then when we got closer it turned out to be a harmless trick - nothing in the road/dangerous, just three kids on each side holding long twigs as if they were tugging a rope between them. i'm conflicted - quite a theatrical prank (I presume copied from online) but given the location could well have been the same group mentioned above.
    • I have no idea, but not so difficult for one of them to stand to the side and record. In an odd way at least if they were doing it for social media it might explain the motivation, albeit misguided. Others may disagree, but that feels less worrying than a desire to intimidate.   I think comparable games like "knock down ginger" where children run away and/or momentarily stick their tongue out as cheeky gesture, have a different vibe to what is described here.
