Everything has a cost - the accidental death of a horse in a circumstances unrelated to the actual filming (the horse was returning to its stable with its stable lad) seems to me to be an unfortunate, sad and perhaps distressing event but not a reason to cancel a highly regarded and critically lauded show.

Yes it is. In the same way that the life of a Cow is less important than me enjoying a steak.

I find it very hard to believe it has been cancelled because of the horse deaths.

I?m more inclined to believe that the viewing figures aren?t holding up and they were looking for an excuse to can the series

I?m a big fan of David Milch (Deadwood remains one of my all time favourite ? but that too never saw a proper end to series 3) but I don?t know if enough people are

That's why I don't bet on Horses.

There are many more than 2000 horses taken fron the USA to slaughter in Mexico and Canada every year (to avoid US Govt. guidelines) and these are predominantly non-racehorses. The same thing happens in Japan. It's not a racehorse thing - just a horse thing. (And yes they are mainly a food product - those that aren't eaten by humans are made into pet food).

    • Thanks all!  KateS - boulangerie Jade is a nice cafe, but they don't do fresh cream cakes. Their eclairs are filled with patisserie cream (a kind of custard), not fresh cream. Azalea- thanks and I've been to Bunhead Bakery (a Palestinian bakery) in Herne Hill a few times. There's a nice chocolate bun they do, which is amazing when then sauce is warmed up. But I haven't seen any fresh cream things there, only white icing. Maybe it's only on a certain day.  And the last time I checked, Ayres bakers in Nunhead don't do fresh cream things. These are the kind of fresh baked goods I'm thinking of....
    • Warning to parents using the playground in Dulwich Park. My daughter and her friends found a bag of ‘crunchy powder’ in the children’s playground this morning around 11ish. They thought it was ‘popping candy’ and all tried some before seen with it. Request to parents using the playground - if you see plastics bags with suspect looking contents or powder on the floor in the playground or park: pick it up and throw it in the bin. Don’t walk past and think someone else will deal with it. The next person to walk by might be a child who could pick it up not understanding what it could be. Hopefully our daughter and her friends will be ok and it’s a lucky escape. But please be aware in case anyone else’s child may have found it before them.
    • I’m looking for some ply sheets, ideally 9mm or 12mm. It doesn’t have to look good. As long as it’s not rotten it’ll be fine. I’d like bigger sheets, but I’m open to whatever anyone’s got. If you can help, drop me a DM.  Cheers
