I find it very Odd that Relaxed Sunday Shopping rules during Olympics have been announced.

We have been made aware that Public Transport will be stretched to extreem limits during the Olympics.

..So why then are we encouraging 1,000's of more people to come into the capital.

I thought it would be sensible to stay away...

Call me Old Fashioned...

Foxed Fox.

I believe retailers of tat and shite are allowed to open on Sundays anyway.

It's only the big retailers that can't open for more than 6 hours usually - so it's really only going to affect the likes of Oxford Street.

Given that they were allowed to open for 6 hours anyway, I suspect that very few people will be doing any more significant work on a Sunday than they would have anyway?

Storm in teacup.

Besides, it's only Sliverfox and Lady Deliah who still think we should be living in 1342, working the fields all week and praying on Sundays. The rest of us have telephones and computers and lives to lead.

This is small minded thinking again.

Basically, the Olympics will attract tourists to London and they will shop in areas like the West End, Covent Garden, Camden Market, etc. I don't expect the shops in Dulwich to extend their trading hour on Sunday.

I know you love a pop at Otta, but I think his tiny little mind is capable, in some stunded proto-fashion, of insights normally exclusive to such visionary colossi as yourself, such as:

I can think of nothing worse than going to any of these appalling place to engage in the vile act of " shopping"

I know Threadneedleman. Savile Row trained. I went to school with two of his cousins. He is also related to Kieron Dyer, the former England player. Threadneedleman used to be based in Peckham before he moved to Walworth Road. His suits are fully canvassed and he does all the cutting, measuring and stitching. Very rare for a tailor to do all these days.

ETA: Well Woodrot, it seems you've gone up in my estimation. I thought you shopped in Marks & Spencer!

I genuinely have no idea what you are talking about. What was small minded about what I said? Did you think I thought the Olympics would only effect Stratford?

My actual point really was who cares?

I read that this initially came about because the Closing Ceremony is on a Sunday and the big memorabilia outlets at the Olympic Park wouldn't then be able to open both before and after.

The shops in Scotland don't have such limited opening hours on a Sunday and it doesn't seem to have affected much. The shops tend to open 10 or 11 until 5 or 6 on a Sunday and the usual big supermarkets are truly 24 hour 7 days a week.

    • Nadia did a great job tidying up my very very overgrown yard. (See the before and after photos). I live in New Zealand and my tenants said a neighbour has been complaining about the out of control ivy. Nadia was easy to contact so over WhatsApp, managed to liaise between me and my tenants. Her quote was reasonable for the amount of work that needed doing, and the end result is great! She sent photos throughout so I could track progress. Would highly recommend her to others.
    • My car was stolen a few months back from my driveway but I had a tracker and found it in a private car park in Lavender Hill close to the police station. I was lucky. The thieves hide it up against that eventuality. High spec cars are targeted I'm afraid. The way it was stolen required the thieves to wire in their own computer accessing a front light (which had had a metal sheet welded across which they prised off). They had searched for a tracker but not found it. They also had to cut away a steering wheel lock. They had to come well tooled up and briefed to do what they did. Beating them off is non trivial. As I said, them not finding my tracker was just lucky.
