can you imagine being in court and

We did exactly that some years ago as there was an allegation, by Southwark, of a breach of a pub's entertainment license (the pub was facing a hefty fine & possible loss of license). It was farcical. The Southwark inspectors (who had been drinking in the pub & reported the alleged offence by an experienced guitar duo)were completely out of their depth & luckily the magistrate was a bit of a music fan & fairly knowledgeable. It was pretty much slam dunk for us. What a waste of the council's resources in legal fees etc.

That is ridiculous! Not to get all hippy on y'all but I really think there's a bit of a control issue between the people and the powers that be when it comes to stuff like that. The free party scene is still very much alive in the East Midlands and whilst it's probably looked down upon by the terminally out of touch who still advocate boozing in a controlled environment, I have never once seen any trouble or any wrongdoing of any sort. The last one was in a clearing which the landowner had permitted, miles away from any residential areas so noise was not an issue... the police still came and tried to close it down though. In saying that, they realised they were outnumbered and had to stand back and let it die down naturally. The night in question is actually run by world famous deep house DJs and is a very well organised thing, and an enormous breath of fresh air compared to the ?20+ entry, ?5+ drinks 'organised' nights in London which every sleazy European and his dog are welcome to... that's where the trouble's at!

    • I’m currently conducting exploratory research into menstrual health education in UK secondary schools and would really value the insight of PSHE leads, Heads of Year, or pastoral staff.    The research aims to understand:   How the menstrual cycle is currently taught within the RSHE framework Where schools feel confident — and where there may be gaps Whether students are taught and  asking questions around the full menstrual cycle, symptoms, wellbeing and conditions such as PMS/PMDD or endometriosis How schools support students in feeling empowered to understand their bodies and seek help appropriately Whether education around nutrition, lifestyle, and menstrual wellbeing is currently addressed   The long-term goal is to explore whether there is a need for additional, age-appropriate, medically informed support on the menstrual cycle.  I’m not selling a programme and there is no obligation beyond a 30 minute informal chat online (Unpaid). All conversations will be confidential and used only to inform the research. If you work in a UK secondary school and would be willing to share your perspective, I would be extremely grateful to hear from you. Please comment below or email me [email protected] Thank you for the vital work you do. Best wishes, Emma
