football pitch reseeding

the renovation works on peckhm rye park have halted and most of the machinery has been removed. many of the drainage trenches remain. parkperson told me today that the trenches would be filled but that the entire area would then be left for grass to grow back naturally. initially it was all going to turfed and reseeded. now they are apparently leaving it to nature. if so, it will be a cock-up as usual.

Turfing in such dry weather would be disastrous without constant watering. Grass seed though doesn't take that long to grow and the pitches wouldn't be needed until the next season starts in September.

I guess the grass will eventually grow back but it isn't only footballers that would like to use that area- it's a siginificant portion of the park that should be ready for other park users to enjoy over summer.

I can't believe people are moaning there was obviously an issue with the ground. How much field do you need

actually, there was not an issue with the area. apparently they got a grant to put in drainage altho the field never flooded and surface water always ran off down the slope.
