An eventful evening. Good company, good food (although it took some time for it to arrive), an ambulance ....

My friends got back from A&E, all is well, a rapid loss of blood pressure caused by eating after a long period of not eating and historic issues with digestion.

Thanks for the concern and particular thanks to Workusers friend for calling the ambulance. The Paramedics did a grand job.

Where to next time?

Dear Curry Club

I've just moved to the area and I'm taking my brother and his wife out for a curry tonight.

I realise this could spark a long discussion given how many curryhouses you've visited, but where do you think is the best Indian food in East Dulwich?

Thanks

Tom

Blimey. There's a question.

After 8 years of monthly curries, I think I can say that there is not an overall "best", it depends on your taste.

You cant go far wrong with either Dulwich Tandoori or Surma.

Jaflong doesn't serve alcohol for religious reasons, although you can BYOB, Veer Zara was historically not brilliant BUT of late is much improved. Tandoori Nights is very good although a little more expensive than the rest.

Mirash is old school, a personal favourite and a little cheaper than the rest.

Ganapati in Bellenden serves great South Indian food but is away from Lordship Lane.

You pays your money and takes your choice.

    • Some P13 drivers appear very risk averse. I live in Underhill and on that road drivers are forced to back away, often considerable distances, from buses to allow them to pass, even when the bus has an immediate space it could back into. The driver at the time said that buses 'weren't allowed to back'. So reports of cars 'blocking' P13s might mean simply that the car was legally parked but the road too narrow,or the bus driver not prepared to risk advancing. NB some P13 drivers are both skilled and courteous, but not all.
    • I’ve experienced the same in Herne Hill. It’s definitely linked to where there are already marked bays, it prevents you from parking within approx 200-400 metres around the bay. Dulwich Village has quite a few bays, which probably explains why you’ve noticed it there and not elsewhere.
    • They are quick enough to issue tickets why can they not tow it away. How many people waited at bus stops for no bus.
