emc
Hello All I have to fill in a flexible working application thingie for work and HR are sending it via email as an attachment (word doc) which am downloading - thought i could then save it, rename it type straight into it then send back as an attachment. But once I open it there is no option to save (or that option is 'faded' if you know what I mean on the list of tasks on left handside of my screen) so I can't save it and when I try to type into it a message comes up 'This modification is not allowed because the selection is locked' - am tearing my hair out as this needs to be in by tomorrow. Any help greatly appreciated. thanks Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/22904-sorry-boring-computer-question/ Share on other sites
ianr
Boring but useful answer. Paste your error message, preferably quoted "This modification is not allowed because the selection is locked" into a Google search, and take your pick of the advice offered. right-clicking
Try to copy and paste the whole document and create a new one, fill in the field and save. I do not see why that should not work? Sue
It's possible the document is "read only" - in which case, can you "save as" (rather than "save") and then type in your answers in the new document? You can normally "save as" by going into the file menu.Alternatively, print out the document, hand-write in your answers, then scan it and save/send it as a pdf.
