Razors
Has anyone else noticed the real goldfish that is on a shelf high up behind the bar opposite the entrance doors of the EDT?It is on its own, in a tiny glass round bowl (cartoon/sitcom style/'retro') type small bowl. Isn't this cruel in terms of the poor fish being on its own,in too small a bowl, and subject to excessive noise and light etc from 11am till closing time? Lishyloo
Really this can't be a serious thread Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/23004-edt-goldfish/#findComment-538023 Share on other sites
bonniebird
If it is serious and why not? then it is cruel :'( Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/23004-edt-goldfish/#findComment-538159 Share on other sites
Sue
Razors, if you're sufficiently worried about the welfare of a goldfish to start a thread on here, why don't you speak to the EDT about it? Razors
I am seeking opinion thats why Sue, esp as posters like you are in local pubs a lot so was wondering if any1 else has seen it/concerned. I don't see why cruelty to a goldfish ie keeping in poor inappropriate conditions is acceptable but keeping a dog for example in equivlient poor conditions is unacceptable. Sue
Cruelty to any sentient creature is obviously unacceptable, but my point was, if you think the fish is being kept in poor inappropriate conditions, why don't you speak to the EDT about it?What difference does it make if people on here agree with you or not?I haven't noticed the goldfish myself. Michael Palaeologus
As Goldfish have famously short memories, even they did feel a bit claustrophobic, they wouldnt remember. uncleglen
The most dangerous thing that could happen to it is chlorinated water! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/23004-edt-goldfish/#findComment-538246 Share on other sites
Razors
Well Sue, i may just do that. But i also thought that maybe other forumites that openly say they care for our animal friends may pop into the pub,(or look through the window), and see for themselves, and also complain to the manager.Maybe i,ll give the RSPCA a ring. Goldfish have memories of 10-12 weeks and can - by distinguishing between different coloured lights - even be trained to do tricks. Maybe this one is being trained to recognize dodgy punters...
