Dental hygienist

Recommended Posts

I just phoned the Gardens dental centre to make an appointment with the hygienist.

I was told I had to pay a deposit - fair enough, I was happy to do that.

But THEN I was told I had to go there in person to pay the deposit. FFS! It's pissing with rain! It's a twenty minute (at least) round trip!

Surely they can take card payments over the phone? On their website, it says call them to book your appointment, which clearly you can't do if you have to trek down there to pay the deposit.

In any case, I think the person I used to see at The Gardens has left.

So - can anybody recommend a good dental hygienist elsewhere in the area? And indeed a dentist, as I think I may move altogether now, and the excellent dentist I used to see there has left :(

I'd highly recommend the North Cross Road dentists called Smile. My hygienist there is Jack - he's brilliant. They do require a deposit, but you can make this by card, over the phone.

I also think if you call up on the day the hygienist is cheaper - but this only works if they have space and you have that flexibility!

Good luck!

A second recommendation for Jack at Smile. It's also handy that you can just make appointments with a hygienist there without having to see a dentist first. I'm not quite so keen on the dentists,I used to see them but due to an ongoing problem that wasn't dealt with satisfactorily ( long boring story !)I have changed to the East Dulwich dentists on Forest Hill Rd and am very happy with them.

How weird!

Maybe it was a new receptionist?

Or maybe they thought I didn't sound trustworthy!!!! I've been going there for years (before it moved to The Gardens) but they didn't ask my name!

From shopping angle, I used to like them but in recent years (no idea if that coincided with ownership changes) I feel as a brand it's lost its USP and charm. And as per other discussions, would hope the likes of Healthmatters aren't negatively impacted in these really difficult retail times.  That's not me wishing they close forthwith, in case it reads that way, just highlighting they aren't the H&B I think they were back in the day.
