Sorry but I think this is hillarious!

Spurs target holding out for 'top club'

by Tom Adams, 08 January 2008

Ajax left back Urby Emanuelson has revealed that a heart-to-heart with former Tottenham midfielder Edgar Davids has turned him against a possible move to White Hart Lane.

The North London club are believed to have made an approach for the Ajax defender who has been linked with all manner of clubs thanks to his impressive performances in De Eredivisie.

Emanuelson has now told Spurs not to waste their time attemping to agree a deal with his club though as he is holding out for a move to a bigger side after taking advice from Davids.

"I have talked about it with Edgar Davids, because he played there," Emanuelson told Sportweek magazine.

"Edgar told me it was a great club, but that I should not join Spurs. He said to me: 'You are an Ajax player, you are young and talented, so you only need to go to a top club in England, Spain or Italy'.

"I have thought about what he said and I think he is right."

Emanuelson?s declaration is a further transfer blow for Spurs who have already seen Rangers right back Alan Hutton turn down a move to White Hart Lane in January.

    • I'd try the Dulwich Village or "North Dulwich Triangle" forums for more local knowledge but I don't think those areas compare to Abeville Road at all. It will be quite a different lifestyle.
    • Yes, Dulwich Village commands a premium and justifiably so given access to the City via London Bridge plus the top rate schools within walking distance.  The bus services are really good also - 37, 42 and P4. The P4 is useful for connecting to the Victoria line at Brixton. It's worthwhile waiting for the right property. I know of one which will be coming on the market in a few weeks - 4 bedrooms and south facing garden circa £2.5m.
    • This is an utterly foolish and alarmist statement, completely at odds with reality.
    • I realise this is highly unlikely, but if anyone has a colour laser printer in very good working order, I'd be delighted to take it off your hands!
