My daughter recently went to A and E with a crush injury to her toe. I have often waited there for hours and hours but this time was seen fairly quickly. Phew!!

The nurse - whose name is Jenny - was the most amazing person. She was everything you would hope for when your child is injured and not feeling their best. Her skills regarding entertainment/distraction were second to none. My daughter hardly felt a thing and the bandaging of her toe was transformed into something fun, interesting and exciting. My 4 yr old son was with us and also had a great time. This nurse transformed what could have been unpleasant into a good experience and now a few weeks later, even as her toenail is falling off, my daughter is still talking about Nurse Jenny.

The reason I write this is to say thank you. I know she reads this forum. Nurse Jenny - childcare is all I have ever done. I rarely come across people such as you who have this very special quality. You are truly gifted - you are a wonderful example of the NHS at it's absolute best.

I don't know who we had during our first a&e visit on Monday night but she was fantastic! It was 3am so I was extremely tired, I don't remember catching her name. My daughter even slipped in a very genuine 'thank you see you tomorrow' on our way out. To which I replied 'I hope not babe' she has since been talking about dreaming about the hospital. Hmmm..

Wow.... Thank you all for the lovely comments about me and the rest of the Paeds ED Team.

I'll try and work out how to let those mentioned know without sounding boastful about my thread :)

Visiting ED is such a stressful time for families that we don't expect lots of praise (to use a cliche we're just doing our jobs) but when we do it makes us feel several inches taller.

Thanks again xx

PS Goodliz - I'm very proud to have you as a good friend too!

    • Which is exactly why Rayner had to go - don't be the sleaze attack dog and then not keep your own house in order - the really shocking fact is she didn't go the moment this came to light because she knew what advice, and the advice to seek proper tax expertise that was given to her in writing by the very people she was trying to throw under the bus - she clearly thought she might be able to spin her way out of it. When you look at the facts, the advice she was given and when and her behaviour in the last few days it has been scandalous and just shows the contempt for the public intelligence some politicians have. Interesting to see a very unscientific vox pop on BBC News last night but a lot of her own constituents seem to want rid of her as well and to be honest if you have to lose your cabinet role for this breach of the rules then you should probably lose your seat too. That is the hypocrisy here and why a lot of people don't like politicians because they're all the same.
    • Hi all, I’m after a stereo amp in working condition. Not necessarily anything fancy, as long as it works. Thanks
    • You are missing my point, there are a few here who are rabidly anti Labour.  And have lost sight of the many scandals associated with their party.  I've not made excuses for Rayner, rather I am inferring that it is hypocritical to go on about one of the major parties whilst ignoring your own dirty washing.   You are not making sense.  I expect half the country likes a drink and a sizeable number likes a vape.  What is your point?
    • If you read the article posted above, it is all very carefully worded. However I've found this: https://uknip.co.uk/news/uk/uk-news/peckham-rye-park-attack-man-seriously-injured-august-2025/
