Two other fine books about crows are Mark Cocker's "Crow Country" and Esther Woolfson's entertaining memoir "Corvus: A Life With Birds" about various crows that have lived with her family. Wonderful birds.

"The crows may have had unfortunate experiences with cats before. They are very bright birds and have long memories.."

Yes, this occurred to me too. I've had to whistle the cats down from the crow tree several times. At first, the crows made things worse by hopping round scolding the cat just out of its reach. However, I'm sure they've associated me with the whistle and the cat's withdrawal as they quieten down when I appear making it much easier to get the cat to come down. Clever beasts.

Better still IMHO is to turn the cats and foxes against each other (they probably are already).Long Live the Crows

    • Agreed! Alex responded immediately, and sorted our blocked sink out the same day. Very satisfied
    • From the October 2025 edition of the Dulwich Society e-news: "The Paxton pub at Gipsy Hill is being refurbed by Greene King and will reopen as a music and restaurant venue called the House of Mobo."
    • I had exactly the same thing! I was going to complain to them. They took money from my account for swimming lessons at the beginning of April despite the pool being closed from late March. It can't be right to be charged a month when they didn't provide the lessons we signed up for.  I don't understand how I'm not eligible when they have taken £80 and not given me any lessons in return.
    • Has anyone successfully applied for a refund? I submitted a request (having not used Dulwich or any other pool while it was closed) and was told I was ineligible, with no reason given.
