You're talking to a Madrile?o UDT. What do you expect from Barcelona!?!?

If we're going down that route we can tar every team under the sun, part of the reason why i just don't give a shit full stop about the 'beautiful' game in the way I once did.

Portugal did do it last night on a number of occassions though.

Pride comes before un fall doc, I still have a chance to break even.

The Czechs nearly took it to pens and as for being badly let down by the Greeks - well I'm used to Bubbles fading and dying.

Am confident Benzema will at last come good against his Madrile?o colleagues and that Les Bleus will pummel Los Rojos good and proper.

And as for England...

Did enough is the best you can say.

Xavi and Iniesta looked out of sorts and so did Spain.

Still France only really had one truly decent spell, and didn't play with enough urgency.

Still it speaks volumes about Spain's quality that that was a performance well below par. I think they had something like 400 passes in the first half with over 80% completion. Not that bad!

Edited for doh!

Yesterday's game reminded me of Everton during the eighties where they compressed the midfield with a high line back four to stifle midfield play. For France to play this tactic they needed a midfield who can pass their way through. So I'm rather puzzled to why Malouda was chosen to play in this position as he's mainly a left sided attacking player. France lost possession countless times as the Spanish intercepted their passes as a side effect of this tactic.

France conceded a poor first goal because Malouda failed to track Xabi Alonso. This is why I prefer Milner over Walcott for the Italy game and underlines the importance of being able to do the ugly hard work much appreciated by footballers than fans.

According to BBC's preview of today's game, England is expected to field an unchanged side. There was an even a mention of 'Catenaccio' to England's playing style. Let's hope Italy's manager does not get any fancy ideas from Wikipedia to end Catenaccio in Celtic style, hey Mick Mac!

Nervous excitement here in RD mansion, just like back in the day :)

''We're playing for England (In-ger-land)...''

I have a feeling England will get through, though it might be a long night. So I would bet on them Foxy. I hope it provides more entertainment than last nights fare. You have to admire how Spain can hold on to the ball but it is a bit like watching a grandmaster playing chess. I'm expecting a bit of 'oh shit I didn't notice the Bishop' tonight. It wont be perfect.

    • I don't know how it works now but my late parents had little money when they were retired (just state pension and they rented their flat) and they used to take their cat to the Blue Cross (In Victoria if I remember correctly) where treatment was free for those who could'nt afford a private vet. I sincerely hope similar is available still because for many elderly their pet is their main source of comfort and company.
    • In a couple of places locally, I have come across this. I am fairly sure that they attempt to do the bill in their head. If you just say , “no, I think it’s x” they start again and get to an agreeable number, or find a calculator. I don’t think it’s a malicious attempt to swindle people. Just not great arithmetic.
    • There are excellent charities like the Greenwich Wildlife Network who will help if you report any concerns with local wildlife. Foxes are wonderful creatures who had been forced into our town and cities and are just doing their best to survive, we should take care of them when we can.
    • Like I thought… prob like that for most of the day.. especially after people had walked their dogs, with friends, relatives  kids…
