I never do predictions in football because there are so many variables. Yes I have expectations but they are not the same as predictions. I don't have a crystal ball. It's for the same reason why I don't go to betting shops.


@Otta, is there a law that I should answer stupid questions? You answered one of my questions with a question as you knew I hit it on the nail. Just how long will you keep up your personal vendetta?

You guys just don't get it do you?

UDT has a bit of South American* in him.

So just like when Suarez said that Negrito was a term of endearment, when UDT says he's right, he's actually saying he's wrong...comprende?


*at the weekend he has a lot of South American in him (allegedly), but that's another thread...

I was expecting Italy to field a 3-5-2 formation in an attempt to nullify Spain's six midfield players. I'm saddened that Prendelli did nothing to overcome Spain's numerical advantage in key positions. Also Chiellini got a start over Balzaretti. Balzaretti made a difference when he came on. Injuries played a key part in the game. Chiellini clearly wasn't fit. Nor was Thiago Motta.


No doubt Spain are worthy winners. They defended well. Just wish it was more of a contest.

Thanks Bob. I could do with a holiday... certainly from this thread. Surely, this is the end? Let's all feck off and take a break. The Euros are over now. It's all gone a bit pear shaped and personal anyway. Also, I think Tillie may have made a rather good point.

      It is not only Southwark - our grandson, partner and 7 year old had a one bed council flat for years in Harlow Essex and all the properties offered were in poor condition. They eventually took a property as if they refused another one they would drop to the bottom of the Housing List. It was damp and in need of a level of renovation. Having lived in these conditions for a while they were offered better council accommodation recently, but further away from child's school. They had to pay 2 lots of rent for a few weeks as council had to undertake work in the new premises before they could move in,

      Just had an interior decorating job done by Andy. The final outcome looks lovely and he did some remedial work at the same time to fill in gaps in the ceiling (due to previous electrical work) and to remediate any similar areas to ensure a polished overall look. Would highly recommend him for any similar job, he quoted a very reasonable price for the job as well. Thanks Andy!

      Well at least there are now functioning bulbs in 2 of the hanging lights in the main passageway to the street. Very luxurious not having to walk through in the dark anymore!

      So work has still not started in the station square. After years of delays we were told it would begin in summer 2025, then October, then January and now just "soon" / "this year". That means the new square is not going to open this year. Pretty poor that Southwark is unwilling  to communicate any reasons for its continuing delays. Meanwhile for the station itself, Network Rail is moving forward with a minor scheme to reduce the crush but still with no lifts:  https://www.ianvisits.co.uk/articles/peckham-rye-station-to-get-5m-makeover-while-waiting-for-step-free-rebuild-87172/
