Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone could help me. My car was parked on Melbourne Grove and I was unaware of the road works that were about to take place. I've just gone to use my car and it is no longer there and there are no other cars there either.

I rang the number to trace the car and they cannot track it down and then I was told to ring the police and they also have no record of it either.

I was just wondering if anyone else has had their car moved and if so do they know where it has been moved too. Or if anyone can help or has knowledge of what might have happened. Any help would be hugely appreciated as the police are now classing this as a stolen vehicle.

Thanks so much.

Sarah

Hey so little update, I've looked around most of the roads in Dulwich and no luck unfortunately. I've called many people to try and track it down and it seems my car is not on any records to show it's been moved or towed. However I was told it may have been missed off the list, meaning it could have been moved and not logged.

If anyone see's this car please give me a call, I would be so so grateful, as I'm meant to be travelling across the country next week.

Please PM me if you have any info.

Thanks so much Sarah

Could your insurance company help to find it?

What a pain it happening at a time when you can't contact the council.

Do you know what company is actually carrying out the work?

ETA: I understand why you have done it, but you might not want to put your mobile number on a public website. Maybe better ask people to PM you?

Hi everyone, the car has been found! Thanks to everyone for their help and support trying to find it.

I received a text from someone this morning saying they had seen it on Pellatt Road and I have just collected it. Thank you very much to this person.

Also just an FYI to anyone else this might happen to, the car was moved because of the road works but not logged on the system by the council or the company Conway that moved it, so if a similar scenario happens to anyone else, it may just be a case of searching the streets for your car.

Thank you again everyone! Very very happy now!

Glad you found it !

I?m incredulous that someone?s car can just be moved with no indication of where and the hassles that could cause.

Can?t either Southwark or Conway confirm which agency / company was responsible for car removals ?

If they can?t, then they?re not in control and this will happen again !

There must be some kind of process that governs removal of cars for the purpose of 'vital' roadworks, one wonders if in this case that process has been breached? This is something our local councillor should defintitely investigate and get an explanation.

I plan on going to a private university in California, which means that there is no in-state/out-of-state tuition difference. Though I currently live in Virginia, I plan on living in California after I graduate college. Would it be OK/a good idea to change residency when I got the best website.

If are wondering to ask me about the idea I got then, feel free and ask me anytime.

Thanks!

    • The eyesore is left, right and elsewhere of said box.😉
    • I don't think you are miserable; the fireworks 'thing' seems to be growing. It used to be that you knew when they would likely happen and they were relatively rare, two or three times a year, for just one evening each time. Now, not only do there seem to be more and more large organised events, with extremely loud fireworks, even making Halloween a must do fireworks date- but people just seem to randomly let off four or five really loud ones at odd times of the night, for around 6 months of the year. Given the environmental impact, I'd have thought the council might want to encourage use of low noise fireworks at large events. I really, really hope something can be done.
    • Would this not be a complaint better aimed at the council? Isn't it an anti social behaviour issue?  I think of myself as pretty live-and-let-live and feel like a miserable cow for saying this, but I do think I might complain. Personally I love the sound of fireworks but our dog is under the table, shaking like a leaf night after night and collapses in the street when he hears the noise.  I'm worried his heart'll give out.
    • The lower / no bang noise fireworks sound great.    Is there anywhere local selling those?
