Certainly washed her hands of her husband when he was tarred with the Berlusconi brush. "For better or for worse" -- same approach to marriage as to Old Labour principles: If they get in the way as you climb, jettison them and don't look back. Appropriate that her honour is handed her by a Tory government.

It is indeed simplistic, as her 'ditching' wasn't as cut and dried as that word suggests. They were and are regularly seen out together, as a cursory Google will reveal... Cycnics might suggest that her 'ditching' was a politically motivated temporary expediency.

Got to say, well deserved. I had an issue here in East Dulwich in which my local councillor didn't do much, so I took the case to Tessa and the Chief Executive of Southwark Council. She worked hard for the Olympics and when I needed support, did so for me.
