Hi, is anyone out there interested in a fun Italian language and culture group for kids? I have two young grandchildren in Dulwich with Anglo-Italian heritage and we would love to be able to take them somewhere where we can meet similar families and play and sing songs in Italian. Is anyone else interested in this kind of thing? If so, please reply indicating the ages of your kids. '

I am not Italian, but when I was younger I spoke quite good italian due to going there frequently first of all on holidays, and then later on for work. I have forgotten most of it, but I would love my children to have an opportunity also of learning it at a young age. It is not a language taught in schools, and so this might be a good way of doing so. They are both young (2 1/2 and 6 months) so I am not in a great rush, but I would be glad to know what's out there.

The Italian government funds teachers to come over and teach Italian in London primary schools. I have no idea what conditions apply, but the Italian Cultural Institute in London should be able to tell you about it. I understand that there's a lot of competition for the jobs so the quality of the teaching is very good. One of the teachers who was over on this scheme was living locally a couple of years ago and teaching in, I think, three different Lewisham schools.

    • Hello. Did you hear any further on this? Was there anyone at the council who was helpful to speak to? I am in a similar boat.
    • Dear all, Bit of a random ask but in such a supportive and accepting community, I thought I'd see if anyone had time to help 🙂 I'm conducting research for my MSc Psychology dissertation, using a brief anonymous survey to explore romantic and polyamorous relationships and how/if attitudes around this interact with factors such a family history and family making. The survey should take no longer than 10-15 mins and has been approved by the University of Roehampton. I'm hoping to circulate the survey widely enough that the data gathered is representational of the diversity in modern society across various aspects that constitutes personal identity. Some of the questions are of a personal nature and others could be considered a bit 'spicy', but just to reiterate, this is an anonymous survey.
