I was walking in Peckham Rye Park yesterday morning, and a man coming towards me fell off his bike. He appeared to have had a heart attack. I was the only initial witness apart from another mother with a baby and a toddler (I had a baby with me), and I had no phone, so I borrowed hers to phone 999. The emergencies talked me through various procedures, and others arrived and helped. A woman came past who knew him, and said his name was David. I left after the paradmedics arrived, as my baby had woken up and was crying, so I have no idea whether he pulled through. I have thought of little else since yesterday morning, and have been hoping and praying that he did. I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about this.
NewNun that is so sad and of course now you have heard he died you will be incredibly sad and upset as you would have been one of the last people to see him and you would have done everything you could. Maybe you should talk to someone who knew him as you could be a comfort to one another. Maybe PM bonniebird or someone who knew him. It is indeed very sad. PS for anyone that knows me and mine, it wasn't 'my' David.
david was thoroughly nice man. he loved dogs although did not have one of his own. he was in his seventies, cycled everywhere and always appeared to be very fit. we chatted to him every day and I was very sad to hear of his death. In fact, I may have been the last person he ever spoke to as he rode past me on his way round the pond. rip david. you were a great bloke
David is my downstairs neighbor. The police came looking for keys to his flat and were there for quite a while. Very sad. I was wondering what had happened and now I know. He was a very good neighbor-always taking in my post when I was on holiday etc., and generally keeping an eye on the place.

Very sad indeed. Rip David. It seems he died doing what he loved doing, though. You may well have been one of the last people to see him. He came off his bike just ahead of my by the adventure playground near Harris girls school.

Thanks for your reply.

Hester

Really sad to hear that he did not make it. We arrived shortly after it happened and assisted NewNun with helping, my brother-in-law did CPR until the paramedics took over. We had also been wondering if he pulled through, the hospital were not able to advise when we called them (privacy laws etc.) Our condolences to his family.

    • When I got covid a couple if years ago it was just like that, especially the bit about it feeling like not as bad as flu but worse than a cold. Have you tested for it? Hope you get over it soon.
    • Not sure whether to put this here or in the lounge, so admin please move if it's in the wrong place. I have got something which seems worse than a cold but not as bad as flu (thankfully). It started with a very sore throat last Thursday morning, then progressed to a  very runny nose on and off plus a cough at the same time, combined with total lack of physical/mental energy. Every time I think it's going away it starts again. I know this is very minor in the great scheme of things/illnesses, and I'm not looking for sympathy, but if anyone else has had it, I'm wondering  how long it's likely to last?
