Over the last week the traffic going from Queens Road and New Cross Road towards Greenwich has been terrible (and really slow).

It hasn't been just during rush hour either but throughout most the day. It took me 45 minutes the other day to drive from Queens Road (by the station) to Greenwich High Street and that was at 1100.

None of the roads are closed along the A2 (that I know of). Does anyone know why this has happened? Have they changed the timing of the lights somewhere or something?

I drove out to Kent about eight this morning and joined the road at Deptford. It was dreadful crawling past Wickes etc I almost turned off to go through Lewisham and quite a few cars turned back but oddly once beyond shooters hill it magically lifted and the traffic was lighter than usual. I also heard on the radio that there was a problem on the woolwich ferry this morning too.

At least there's a reason. Still annoying though!

I don't see the reason for needing to cause a jam before Greenwich?! It makes no sense to me. Maybe they're trying to make people go another way.

or

Possibly to give security services more time to intervene a car before arrival to Greenwich???

    • Ah sorry, it was comedy.
    • I have never used AI in my life. It's just notes from my forthcoming monograph on light industry in Dulwich and Camberwell 1879-1946 (dates chosen for obvious reasons).
    • Thank you, this really made me chuckle. It's like you met my brother as he would be the one taking more than his share. Plus the 'pikey' chutney is a winner. Unusual as in can't be identified??? Sadly I'm not the host otherwise I would definitely do that I regularly shop in the Cheese Block and am a fan. But as people have pointed out, there is no cheese shop that charges less based on bulk, so Aldi unusual cheeses may be what the familam receive! Yay, so I can get discounted mouse nibbled cheese still! Oooo, now I do love a Stinking Bishop. It actually offends my stepmum by it's stinkiness but luckily she is not one of the attendees at this particular gathering.  This is blooming genius. It's actually my partner who has the biggest issue with buying in plastic so I will have to hide the wrappers from him!
