Car stolen from Upland Road New Years day

Luckily we have a tracker and quickly retrieved it ourselves. The car was taken and dumped on the corner of Court Lane and Druce Road.

It is a family 4x4 with keyless entry. The keys are kept in a (tested and working) RFID blocking pouch when not in use.

This means the thieves likely waited to intercept the signal when the keys were used by us, and probably then able to clone it to obtain access.

We usually have a stop-lock, but unfortunately left it off this night by mistake.

I'm glad there was a happy ending. To be honest, I don't see the point in keyless entry. I've disabled mine since it seems to bring more trouble than its worth.

Wow! just flipping wow! Criminals these days... even with an RFID pouch they still somehow went to the trouble of cloning the key etc...

Maybe they got spooked when they dumped it. Glad to hear you got it back! horrible feeling though - the violation!

eughhh it makes me sick to the pit of my stomach! scumbags!

Just goes to show, as you say you must be vigilant at all times and have secondary security these days... maybe a camera out the front would help deter...

Glad you got it back, When you say it had a Tracker fitted when you realised it was missing was it the police or the tracker company that plotted were it had been dumped ? Or was it a Phone App that pointed you to the location .

One of my customers had the similar thing he told me today

Near brand new Range Rover, stolen Christmas Eve using some kind of signal cloning technique.

This was in Beckenham

This happened to a client of mine in Balham 4 years ago two high end Range rovers both times the key was cloned from the street.

Thank you for the kind words. I have installed additional cameras. What baffles me is how easy it must be for them to sell the cars on the black market. That must be where the authorities focus their efforts. One would assume they are taken out the country on shipping containers.
