giggirl
It's on my doorstep and I've objected. 2am is a stretch too far. It's been a very quiet pub for the last 10 years and I've no problem with the revamp and I think they've done a great job (apart from the food) BUT 2am doesn't get my vote. Jeremy
Completely unsuitable hours for a residential street. I'm amazed anyone would think this is a good idea (apart from the owner, of course). first mate
Completely unsuitable. If people want to party into the early hours then go into town. It is simply not reasonable to open so late on a residential street. Sue
DulwichFox Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> Sleep in the front so CPR Gardens not a prob.> xxxxxxxxxI used to, but moved to the back because of noise from the street at the time eg somebody who got a lift every morning about 6am and the car hooted each time :(CPR shouting in the garden started at 7.45am this morning. Squealing didn't start till 8.20am, but at least it was short-lived.And no, I'm not an early riser, I'm a late to bed owl. And yes, I like kids. But sadly my garden appears to be midway between two CPR gardens where squealing and shouting kids frequently play. I'm not talking little kids, I'm talking kids old enough to be made aware that they may be disturbing others. I can tell when one lot get home from school (during term) because of the noise, which I can hear with all my windows shut. They were even out there in heavy rain :(Unfortunately I can't identify the houses in either case, or I would go and have a polite word with the parents. Though possibly the parents are making them play in the garden because they can't stand the noise in the house :)OK maybe that was a neurotic rant :)The Great Exhibition is far enough away from me that such late hours probably wouldn't disturb me, but if I lived nearer, much as I like the pub, I must say I wouldn't be too happy. Not just five minutes, but prolonged.Maybe I am just over-sensitive, but when I am in my office with the windows shut on a Summer day trying to work, I'm afraid I do find that anti-social.And when it happens before 9am on a Sunday morning I also find that anti-social.ETA: Quite happy to be told it's me who is too sensitive and I should just get ear plugs. But I don't like wearing ear plugs in bed. Also I'm aware that occasionally I can be noisy, as can we all probably, but I do try to be aware of neighbours given that we are in terraced houses which are very close together both in the same terrace and between terraces, because of the relatively small gardens.ETA: To make it absolutely clear (as I have delightful small children as neighbours on both sides), I'm not referring to the screams of small children kicking off, which having two small grandchildren I am only too used to and fully sympathise with the parents, nor am I referring to the squeals of small children playing, I'm referring to screams and squeals of older children. Sue
Beginning to think I'd rather have pub noise :(Woken up at 7.45am this morning (Saturday) by shouts and squeals from a CPR (I think) garden, which at some points were joined by shouting adults as well. Has now finally finished an hour later, all has gone blissfully quiet, but too late for me, I gave up and got up.Given the strange way sound can carry, I'm now not sure whether there is one house or two involved, or where exactly it/they are.I can't be the only one to be disturbed by this, as it is some distance from my house. If anybody knows which number/s CPR it is, please could they PM me so I can go and have a quiet word, as I'm sure (hope) the people involved don't realise.It/they seem to be on the stretch of CPR between North Cross Road and Whateley Road, ie between the Actress and the Great Exhibition, and on the same side as the Actress.Bit ridiculous to be wishing it was Winter :( Sorry admin, I realise this is somewhat off-topic, but it does seem vaguely relevant as it relates to noise at unsocial (I think) times in the same area as the Great Exhibition. BigED
Getting back on topic... if you do want to comment on The Great Exhibition's application for an extended licence (for or against), the deadline in 2 August, this Thursday.Details of the application are here: http://app.southwark.gov.uk/Licensing/LicPremisesAppliedDetails.asp?systemkey=838498The licence reference application is 838498If you want to object, details of how to are here: http://www.southwark.gov.uk/info/200063/licences/856/how_to_object_to_a_licensing_applicationor you can comment by emailing [email protected] quoting the reference 838498. If you still use old fashioned writing techniques:Southwark Licensing TeamHub 2, 3rd Floor PO BOX 64529 LondonSE1P 5LXTelephone: 020 7525 5748Although you have to provide details such as name and address (and I guess that just helps establish that you are a real person with a genuine interest in the outcome of the application and not just the applicant or a competitor), you can ask for your comments to be kept anonymous. But if it goes to a public inquiry then your comments would have to be made available including your name and address. If you are opposing the application, there are four main grounds:1. The prevention of crime and disorder 2. Public safety 3. The prevention of nuisance 4. The protection of children from harmAnd if you are supporting the application I guess you can say whatever you like.BigED Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/24641-application-for-extended-late-licence-at-the-great-exhibition/page/2/#findComment-564115 Share on other sites
djsenior
AGAINST - The Great Exhibition's application for an extended licence. My friend lives very close to this pub and since its been refurbished the noise levels have been awful, extending the license into the early hours is going to leave local residents with worsening conditions to live peacefully and raise children when neither child nor parents can sleep.Disorder will increase with customers drinking and drinking into the early hours, then making loud noises (typically shouting) when leaving.I find it really poor that any such consideration to allow the inevitable additional noise after 11pm be allowed in a residential area with surrounding houses containing families needing sleep.
