If the owner of the frequently barking/yapping dog living in one of the Calton Avenue* gardens backing onto Gilkes Crescent is reading this, PLEASE can you control your dog and/or keep it indoors until it stops barking.

*Disclaimer: it is difficult to gauge exactly which house/garden the dog lives in. It is a high pitched yapping/barking, which the dog seems to be able to sustain at length.

On Monday night this week our household was awoken at 3am and kept awake until approx 4am by your dog barking incessantly.

Last night your dog was barking agian, albeit earlier in the night and for a shorter duration(between 10 and 11pm).

This is not the first time your dog has been a noise nusiance at night. It also barks during the day which is very annoying but not as big an issue as the night-time.

Please be neighbourly and have consideration for other people trying to sleep.

If anyone reading this is aware of the source of the noise please feel free to PM me.

I don't normally complain on forums, and would prefer to knock on their door, but I don't know which house it is.

I expect they don't realise how much disruption they are causing to their neighbours.

I did'nt realise that you posh Dulwich Village types used our lowly forum, times were when you did'nt dare venture across Lordship Lane.

Barking dogs - get over it. Might be more riots next month, like last year, and they might be down your manor.

What do riots have to do with barking dogs?

Isn't East Dulwich Grove in East Duwich?

Do you assume that someone with the handle Villager must live in Dulwich Village?

What have you got against residents of Dulwich Village? Envy? Resentment?

Or are you a troll or just having a bad day?

Goose

there is a difference between the occasional bark and relentless barking from the same dog especially when it wakes you up in the night. You get to the point that you are in a constant state of agitation every time you hear one bark waiting for the onslaught to begin. I say this as a dog owner who used to live near a relentlessly barking dog!

Hahahahhaahahahaha

The last time I looked East Dulwich wasn't some private estate with separate rules from the rest of society. If you have an issue with noise from a local dog and barking why not do what any normal person would do and go and speak to the owner. No, you post a message on a forum that the owner is unlikely to read in the standard middle class passive aggressive manner.

This forum is so polluted with the virtual curtain twitching, middle England, white middle class closeted nonsense it is beyond a joke. It's like you live outside of normal society and the normal means of social growth and socialisation.

You're right of course but if it isn't a nice middle class doggy that says sorry for the inconvienience, I do apologise but says go fuck yourself, cunt instead and sets said dog on to you, would you?

There are actually two dogs guilty of this - one at the bottom of Calton, one near the end of Gilkes (we're on Calton).

However one barks more loudly and more often than the other. Mutiple times in the evening and often, like you said, in the small hours. As far as we can see it is a case of the owners not letting the dog back in after letting it out to do its thing. I know dogs bark, but this is a case of bad owners in my view.

I know exactly which house the main offender lives at if you'd like to know - send me a PM.

Said dog has woken our baby daughter up most nights, for months. Worse in the summer as her windows need to be open and the garden backs onto ours, so the dog is pretty much underneath her. Grrr.

And for the misery here who thinks it's as simple as some ear plugs - want to come and try sleeping in her room one evening?

Thanks for the notes of sympathy! Judging by a couple of posts above, and a couple of PMs I've received, I am not the only one being disturbed. Kerry I will PM you.

Ear plugs are standard wear for me, but this noise penetrates them. Shutting windows during the recent heat wave was not an option.

It seems to have been quieter since I posted, so perhaps the message has filtered through.

And Neil/Dani and i*Rate, I want to correct your assumptions, I am neither British, nor middle class nor rich nor privately educated nor posh. I work damn hard to pay to live where I do, hence I need a good night's sleep - without barking dogs - so I can get up early and go out and earn a living!

    • Where did I say he did a good job? Yup and Corbyn was very close to Len McCluskey and funded by Unite wasn't he...they're all as bad as each other... Labour have to purge their party of the far-left - they're a disaster. Allan Johnson summed it up so well on election night in 2019....
    • Thank you for the detailed advise @trinidad It is definitely damage we are concerned about. I don’t think Evri would agree to pay the bill to fix our gate or letter box if they were to be damaged as a result of their delivery drivers helper. Our doorbell can be heard from outside when rung so we don’t quite believe the aggressive simultaneous door/letter box banging is necessary. It can be quite a shock it is done very aggressively.  I’ll definitely action the steps you’ve kindly provided along with a phone call tomorrow. I do sympathise with the role drivers have and how busy they are, which is why we tried communicating directly with her but sadly we haven’t succeeded
    • What outcome would you like? Disciplinary action? Not to have the driver back? Retraining? I know there is alot of pressure on drivers to deliver within a set day. if he slams the gate, is it evidence he is causing damage, or is the noise a irritant to yourself? You could put a sign up or buy a signing asking to close the gate gentle???? can you hear the door bell from the door? he might be ringing, not hearing and therefore knocking. In trhe notes section of the be livery page, there is a note section, although there is not 100 per cent these notes would be read as these drivers are constantly rushing.  I did a google search for you, i found this and you can try the envri website Contact Us | Evri   To complain to Evri, you can follow these steps: Contact Customer Service: Call Evri's customer service at 0330 808 5456 for assistance with your complaint.    1 Write a Letter: Address your complaint to Capitol House, 1 Capitol Close, Morley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS27 0WH.    1 Use the Official Website: Visit the Evri complaints page on their official website for detailed instructions on how to submit a complaint.    2 Email or Call for Specific Issues: For issues like missing or damaged parcels, you can email or call 0800 988 8888, which is free to call.    1 These methods will help you effectively communicate your concerns to Evri.   My driver is called anthony, he is brilliant to be honest. I cant fault him.
    • When I have more time and energy, I will look up the actual number of votes cast for each party in that election, rather than the number of seats won. I'm interested to see that you apparently  think that  Boris Johnson did a good job of "leading the country through Covid." Is your memory really that short? I won't stoop to calling Johnson and his cronies names in the way that you seem to think is appropriate for left wing politicians. At least the left wing politicians have some semblance of morals and a concern for people who aren't in some over privileged inner circle and/or raking in money for themselves on the back of an epidemic. I'm not going to open a can of worms on here  by commenting on the disgraceful so called "purge".
