Hi there. Does anyone have any experience of key camp or eurocamp holidays in France, which company would you recommend? Key camp seem cheaper but would that reflect on the standards in accommodation I wonder? Was looking at the two sites in Picardy seems easy to drive to from calais, La bien assisse and Chateau de drancourt. We have 3 kids 2,5,8 and with no experience of driving in France we didn't want to venture too far. This seems to be a cheapish holiday option especially having had a look round the websites for cheap package deals in the med like turkey, most were very expensive. Ideas and recommendations greatly received.

No experience of the camPs (though I believe avoiding those chains and booking direct with the French campsites works out much cheaper) but we drive to Bordeaux a couPle of years ago and it was really easy .. Though tolls are pricey

The motorways are much smoother than

The uk

Good servIces at le Somme with space to run around, tower to climb, play area

Not sure I'd rely on northern France whether wise

Hi, we did la bien assise last June with a 4 yr old and a 14 yr old. very easy to get to, 20 min drive from eurotunnel. The site is small but pretty, facilities nice and clean and some pretty villages snot too far if you do want to venture out. We only went for long weekend and stayed in a rent, if we went back I'd opt for caravan (tent was a bit tenko like). The pools are nice, small but nice. We booked with Eurocamp and had no , the staff we're always on hand and very friendly

We've done Eurocamp twice now, it was great. Re the difference between Eurocamp and Keycamp, I think it's just the branding. They share the Kids' Clubs (which our kids loved) and the tents looked the same from the outside. They are both owned by the same company.

I can recommend Eurocamp/Key Camp - no really sure on the difference.

Driving in France is easy - and depending how far south you go, can take less time than the hour journey to airport, 2 hr wait, 2 hr flight, 1 hour transfer etc. Downside is that weather in southern France is less reliable than, say, southern Spain, but personally I think that villages, beaches, food etc are superior to competitors (Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece). Also great if you have small children as there is always a plentiful supply of pals, and sites feel very relaxed and safe.

We were at the bien assise earlier this summer and loved it! There is a really nice restaurant on site (part of an adjoining logis hotel so of a good standard). There is a covered pool but the water was a bit chilly. Our toddler didn't mind but we put the 6 month old in one of those baby wetsuits. Lots of play areas and green spaces. We were only there for an overnight stop but hoping to go again for longer next year.

We took our own caravan but have used Keycamp and eurocamp before. Eurocamp accommodation slightly better and pitches slightly nicer than keycamp but as other poster said they are the same company and share kids clubs. Have you looked at canvas as an alternative company?

    • Hope all the ‘high streets for people’ events went well! Very short notice probably for people living in the area and on a very hot day!  James McAsh just doesn’t know what to do next with Southwark Council Tax payers money. He advocates the few streets in the area that has a bus service and then shuts the routes down! Very annoying for people who want to go about their daily business and have already had restrictions brought in by McAsh.
    • Thank goodness for Greg. I had an awful situation whereby I was notified that water was leaking from my flat into the flat below me. I was 150 miles away at the time and had a panicked journey home not knowing what I was going to face.   I called Greg (after seeing reviews on the forum) as soon as I arrived home in the evening and he arrived just after 10pm and was able to shut off the problem. He had to come back to finalise the job which turned out to be caused in a communal area whereby there was a blockage in the stack pipe.   Greg worked quickly, efficiently and informed me every step of the way as to what he was doing and why. He also cleaned up really well afterwards.  Greg's charges are very reasonable and he will definitely be my "go-to" if I have any other plumbing issues in the future.
