Peckhamrye
Does anyone know what's going on at the corner of Peckham Rye/Nunhead Lane? It has a notice on it saying 'Nunhead PSV site' but no idea what that means. Siduhe
PSV is normally Public Service Vehicle - bus, coach, minibus? Parking stand maybe (although that wouldn't make much sense given how busy that junction is)? Peckhamrye
They dug a big hole, closed it off, moved further along, fenced off more of the common and are now digging even bigger shafts! Very odd.... Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/24801-works-on-nunhead-lane-corner-of-peckham-rye/#findComment-564359 Share on other sites
PeckhamRose
Are they now building a high fenced play area for the kiddie's place in the ex toilet across the road? boosboss
It's Thames Water fixing a pipe. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/24801-works-on-nunhead-lane-corner-of-peckham-rye/#findComment-564411 Share on other sites
east-of-the-Rye
at one point there was even a notice pinned to the fence saying something along the lines of "we are mending your pipes, but won't always be visible on this site" presumably to forestall people saying "what are they doing there? is any work really happening?" . Chase Dulwit
The site is close to where Thomas Tilling had his first Omnibus garage (Publice Service Vehicles), but I think it's more likely that PSV stands for Pressure Safety Valve(s) associated with the mains water network and/or the local reservoirs, which are constantly leaking. computedshorty
The holes now being dug in the Peckham / Nunhead Lane area is an ongoing investigation prior to a Wind Turbine being sited on the Peckham Rye.The object is to find the River Peck to use the natural water that is fed from a spring. It appears to be that it will power the pumps to the refurbished Peckham Lido ( open air swimming pool ). Concern has been voiced of the appearance of the Wind Turbine, it has been suggested that it might be in the form of an old style Wind Mill, with four Sails instead of three Propellers, this will blend in with the open area of Peckham Rye, and may bring an interest to the Rye.Due to the local epidemic of mosquitoes causing harmful attacks on the workers on site, the work has been suspended until winter months. This does give the public some time, if they wish to give their views on this development. Renata Hamvas
Thames Water have been gradually moving along Evelina/Nunhead Lane towards Peckham Rye over the past year or so, laying new pipes.Renata Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/24801-works-on-nunhead-lane-corner-of-peckham-rye/#findComment-574119 Share on other sites
