at one point there was even a notice pinned to the fence saying something along the lines of "we are mending your pipes, but won't always be visible on this site" presumably to forestall people saying "what are they doing there? is any work really happening?" .

The site is close to where Thomas Tilling had his first Omnibus garage (Publice Service Vehicles), but I think it's more likely that PSV stands for Pressure Safety Valve(s) associated with the mains water network and/or the local reservoirs, which are constantly leaking.

The holes now being dug in the Peckham / Nunhead Lane area is an ongoing investigation prior to a Wind Turbine being sited on the Peckham Rye.

The object is to find the River Peck to use the natural water that is fed from a spring.

It appears to be that it will power the pumps to the refurbished Peckham Lido ( open air swimming pool ).

Concern has been voiced of the appearance of the Wind Turbine, it has been suggested that it might be in the form of an old style Wind Mill, with four Sails instead of three Propellers, this will blend in with the open area of Peckham Rye, and may bring an interest to the Rye.

Due to the local epidemic of mosquitoes causing harmful attacks on the workers on site, the work has been suspended until winter months.

This does give the public some time, if they wish to give their views on this development.

    • Lots of very good places around Rye Lane. I'd say there are the long-standing great places like Levan, Mr Bao, Oi Spaghetti, Peckham Bazaar and (towards Bellenden Rd) Begging Bowl, Made of Dough, and Artusi.  And then the newer places that we've been enjoying include Janda Diner, Taquiza, Hausu, En Root, Messy Mary (currently at Copeland Social). We are spoilt for choice really! Depends what you're looking for - some of the above are cheap and cheerful, others much more fancy
    • Yep dangerous and worrying and plenty on here seem to either not grasp that or are perfectly ok with it - which is more worrying you think cancerian or any other reform voter will be any happier if reform win? Sure, just like Brexit they will laugh at the lib-tears but as reality hits, nothing but more anger and complaints   And as we see with Brexit and Trump, finding out too late doesn't solve anything
    • Yes, and it's dangerous and worrying.
    • What was he knocking for?  What was actually said?  Why did he become aggressive?  More context is needed 😶
