tommy
Hi, I'm going to an 8.30am hockey match this Sat, is Stratford the best entrance for the Riverbank stadium? Thanks Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/24890-best-route-to-the-olympic-park/page/2/#findComment-567067 Share on other sites
katgod
Riverbank is near the velodrome so from the map I got with the tickets etonian manor looks closer but I don't know how far it is to the tube. It is quite a walk from Stratford to riverbank but at least huge station is close to the gate. Applespider
It's a good 30-35 minute walk from Stratford to the hockey venue even when there are no queues or crowds. The nice thing about it is that you get to see the rest of the Park and it is lovely - and at that time, shouldn't be too crowded. If you want the quickest route, the closest station is Leyton and then use the Eton Manor gate (as Katgod suggests). It's about a 10 minute walk from the Eton Manor gate to the hockey. And you can hop on a 308 bus between Leyton and the Eton Manor gate; it's a bit of a circuitous route to avoid the A12 if you walk it. njc97
As per Applespider, Eton Manor gate is the nearest but not sure how close that is to tube/train. We went via West Ham, which is a good 15 minutes from tube to olympic park and then about 25 minutes from there to riverside (depending on how quick you walk). Stratford is much shorter from tube/train to park, but then has longer security queues. I'd reckon it's nearer 15 minutes from gate to arena if you walk quickly, 30 minutes if you take a leisurly stroll, stop to pick up a drink etc. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/24890-best-route-to-the-olympic-park/page/2/#findComment-567277 Share on other sites
tommy
Thanks all, Sat morning should be lovely so I think an early stroll through the Park from Stratford is in order. Applespider
You can definitely do gate to arena in 15 minutes but I added on another 15 to get from the train and through the convoluted queuing system to the gate! the-e-dealer
You could get the Ferry to Rio though you will still be early! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/24890-best-route-to-the-olympic-park/page/2/#findComment-568464 Share on other sites
