peckham_docs
Hi, Can anyone recommend any interesting local characters for short documentary series about local people in the Peckham area? I'm a local film maker, and I'm interested in producing a series of short films about interesting characters in the area. They maybe shopkeepers, bee keepers, local activists, war heros etc. Anyone who stands out as doing / having done something unique and interesting. If you don't know their names, just please let me know where I can find them, and I'll track them down. All suggestions welcome. Many thanksAd Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/24961-interesting-peckham-characters-for-tv-documentary/ Share on other sites

PeckhamRose
The film maker students at Chelsea Art School have been making series of films all based on individual businesses and characters in Peckham. We get to see these films at the Peckham Plex. Each year we see about 10 or so different films each made by a separate group of students, so after 3 years there have been thirty of so businesses and characters covered. One of my particular faves was the guy that ran the launderette but clearly did not want to be filmed in the end and couldn't make up his mind whether it would be a good advert, or he may be identified in the end! Another fave was the people who run Oz's cafe and the people who run the chrome making factory on the Old Kent Road. We have watched and learned all about the characters and the companies and people of Peckham. One omission to my mind is the very wonderful woman who runs the motorcycle shop Honda Rider Motors, but she may be included in the next year's series of films, I don't know. So, PeckhamDocs, it has and is already being done. But go for it and make more! DJKillaQueen
To be fair guys the OP sounds like a local film maker just trying to get some ideas off the ground. And I may be interested in getting involved (will pm you Peckham Docs). So I would second the lady at Honda Ryders and have a few ideas too. titch juicy
if you're *lucky* enough to encounter 'The Whistler' on Rye Lane, doing his thing whistling at buses and telling them to 'F*&% Off', then he'd probably be ideal.
