The way some of you are responding rather proves my point. I think it's clear that not everyone's enjoying it and not everyone's a winner.

My guess is UDT is an alter ego set up to poke fun at some ED Effers' need to pick up on just about anything other people say in order to show how big and clever they are. If he isn't, he's doing a bloody good job of it.

OK, I'm picking on Bob's post to explain what I mean, but frankly any one would have done.

"Pointless" - clearly not to me and some others here, so not true. Judgmental, dismissive and critical.

"Knotting of knickers" - patronising and reductive in order to poke fun at the post and dismiss my opinion.

"Malevolent" - projecting negative intentions onto me in order presumably to deflect attention from your own actions and push away any guilty feelings you're having that might risk making you examaine your own behaviour.

"Misunderstand" - you're assuming that you're right and I'm wrong.

"Dynamic" - using an abstract idea to push away responsibility for your own behaviour - your posts are things that you choose to say, not manifestations of a relationship or something UDT makes you do.

"Enjoying it" - your assumption.

"Everyone's a winner" - clearly untrue as people regularly say they don't like this kind of thing.

"Determined to be offended" - making me out to be unreasonable and/or irrational in the face of evidence because my point of view conflicts with yours and, again, because if you take mine seriously there's a risk you might have to examine your behaviour.

"Someone else's behalf" - I'm offended on my own behalf as I've been on the receiving end of it from several forumites over the last couple of days. I don't like watching the bullying either.

"More than happy" - again, your assumption. You don't know how other people are feeling.

"Play" - you seem to be implying that all the nastiness and pulling other people apart isn't real - it's just a game, and therefore other people don't have a right to feel bad when they're picked on.

In all, quite a nasty piece of work. Or, like you say in your later post:

"The problem is, Ms B, that you're really stupid - and I'm far more clever than you. Therefore I am at liberty to ignore your feelings and carry on in my chosen manner."

Sums up the situation, really. I'm sure none of you would risk behaving like that at work where you might actually be called to account.

MsB, I have no beef with you, but yesterday you accused Jeremy and El Pibe of bullying you on your personal shopper thread. I was gobsmacked at that accusation!

I agree that new users may find the humour on here off putting when they are not used to it, and start a thread with a reasonable question, but equally, if you decide to use a public forum you need to accept that the public will respond and may not share your views.

There are other local forums nearby which don't have the character that the EDF has, although there is a boundary between banter and bullying/trolling.

Clearly UDF is a creative chap with the ability to use words and documents to his advantage, although if you're a newbie to this forum and you get him being aggressive to you, it is rather off-putting to posting again. Whether he stays or not is up to the Adminstrator.

Ms B, don't worry about *Bob*, he's just in UDT character mode.

    • Big recommendation for Stephen Viccary who has created a magnificent bathroom for us. Quality of work is absolutely top notch. We couldn't be happier - see pics.  Stephen is considerate and tidy meaning working from home during the work was fine (some noise - obviously, it is a demo and installation after all. He does not work on multiple jobs, does a full days work and does ALL the work himself - Tiling, plumbing, lighting (including lighting on a motion sensor under the vanity and in the shower niche - for night time visits 😉), he even changed the door architraves, sorted the badly cracked ceiling and did all the paint work. A full end to end service. Stephen's number - 07941 266 145
    • Highly recommend Dulwich Eco Gardening.  When he came to quote Saied said he’d give our garden back so we could decide what we do next.  Under two weeks of hard work from Saied and Mo and we have the garden back and can see paving I’d forgotten about. Not only did Saied remove our very overgrown greenery. Nature had taken over. He also took back to our fence line overgrown ivy, apple and pear trees and and dealt with a neighbours bamboo that had invaded our garden.  We are now going to get quotes for what we do next so those quoting will be able to see the space.  Saied has suggested someone to quote and will be coming back when he does in case he has any questions or they can work together.  I thought Saied would be a good choice and he was. Quotes from others didn’t leave me with confidence for the end result. That was never a concern with Saied.
    • Having a BBQ (fingers crossed) in 2 weeks and need a small BBQ for veggie bits and any spare benches or garden tables and chairs to borrow to add to mine. Any going? Thanks in advance...
